Otto Porter Jr. Out vs. Grizzlies After Hip Injury Diagnosed as Strain
Washington Wizards swingman Otto Porter Jr. was ruled out of Friday night's game against the Memphis Grizzlies after he suffered a hip strain, according to the Washington Post's Candace Buckner.
Porter was a revelation for the Wizards during a healthy 2016-17 campaign. Appearing in 80 games, Porter averaged career highs of 13.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game. The 24-year-old was also a knockdown shooter with a 51.6 field-goal percentage and a 43.4 percent clip from three.
As a result, Porter and Gary Harris were the only qualified players to average at least 10 points while knocking down better than 50 percent of their total shots and 40 percent of their three-point attempts last season, according to Basketball Reference.

SGA Praises Brooks After Sweep
Since the Wizards signed him to a four-year, $106.5 million deal as a restricted free agent, Porter has averaged 14.6 points, 6.5 boards and 1.5 steals on 50.0 percent shooting from the field and 45.5 percent shooting from distance.
If Porter misses time, Kelly Oubre Jr. should slide into the starting spot at small forward. Head coach Scott Brooks could also opt to shift Bradley Beal over to the 3 and play sharpshooter Jodie Meeks beside him at the 2 if he wants to keep bringing Oubre off the pine.
