Giants Score 3 Runs on Infield Grounder Due to 2 Diamondbacks Throwing Errors
Andrew GouldApr 11, 2017
In a play befitting an elementary tee-ball bout, the San Francisco Giants crossed home plate three times after a lazy infield dribbler.
With the game scoreless in the fourth inning Monday night, Giants pitcher Matt Moore hit a ground ball with the bases loaded. Arizona Diamondbacks starter Taijuan Walker went for the force out at home, but his throw sailed beyond catcher Jeff Mathis' reach.
With the roles reversed, Mathis fired an errant throw to Walker, allowing the second run to score. Although first baseman Paul Goldschmidt's ensuing throw was on the money, it came a tad late.
