City coach Pep Guardiola made four changes from the defeat at Chelsea. Willy Caballero, Vincent Kompany and Kevin De Bruyne dropped to the bench as Claudio Bravo, Aleksandar Kolarov and Raheem Sterling were restored to the starting XI. Yaya Toure also made a start as Fernandinho was absent from the squad.
Michael Dawson and Evandro were drafted into Tigers boss Marco Silva's team for injured defender Harry Maguire and striker Abel Hernandez, respectively.

The hosts almost took the lead in the opening minutes of the contest as David Silva and Leroy Sane both tested goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic.
Sane's attacking play was dynamic, and the young Germany international combined with Toure as City aimed to break the deadlock.
A calamitous error from Elmohamady finally gave Guardiola's men their first. The defender turned the ball in at the far post to score past his own goalkeeper after Aguero had failed to make a connection.
OptaJoe highlighted the moment:
The hosts had to wait until the start of the second half to double their lead, as Aguero finished off a sensational move that saw the Sky Blues score a goal straight out of the Barcelona playbook.
The Argentina striker just had to tap the ball home after City's creativity overpowered their opponents.
Squawka News tipped their hat to the goalscorer and his team as they put daylight between themselves and Hull:
BBC 606 provided details of the passing move for the second strike:
The Tigers remained compact and full of effort despite the scoreline, and their manager Marco Silva was animated in the technical area.
The Portuguese boss made a swift double substitution as he attempted to change the flow of the game, but City remained relaxed and in control of proceedings.
The victory was put to bed shortly after the hour mark as Delph rifled his shot into the top corner, giving Jakupovic in the Hull goal no chance.
Sterling danced down the wing before picking out the midfielder, who finished with aplomb for his team's third.
The Premier League provided information of Delph's rare finish:
Former City player Paul Dickov was pleased for the returning England international, who has suffered with injuries:
There was time for a late consolation for the Tigers as Ranocchia found the net, but the goal came too late for any thoughts of a comeback.
City closed the game down in the final stages of the encounter, keeping possession of the ball and totally controlling territory.
It was a good day at the office for Guardiola and his men, who didn't allow Hull time to make inroads and collected the points with minimal fuss.
