Zlatan Ibrahimovic Will Reportedly Sign for LA Galaxy from Manchester United

Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic will reportedly join Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy in the summer when his one-year contract at Old Trafford expires, according to FOX Deportes (in Spanish). 

The Spanish-language site tweeted a mocked-up photograph of the 35-year-old Swede in a Galaxy shirt, but ESPN FC's Jeff Carlisle relayed sources saying it is still "50-50" whether Ibrahimovic will move to MLS, and the decision is in his hands, via ESPN FC's Chris Borg.

The former Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona forward previously hinted he would be open to penning a new deal at Old Trafford and staying on at the club into next season, per Dianne Bourne in the Manchester Evening News.

He said: "I never leave a job unfinished...I have an option for another year, I want to do great as long as I’m here, so let us see, there is a lot of time."

United fans will be desperate that Ibrahimovic takes up his option to play on at Old Trafford for another year rather than joining LA Galaxy.

In another troubled season for the Red Devils the talismanic former Sweden international has been one of United's star players, netting 26 goals in 41 appearances in all competitions, per WhoScored.com.

As noted by Sport Witness, given the changes that have been made to the squad due to Ibrahimovic's arrival—the likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial have been pushed wide and had their roles limited—it would arguably be a waste if he ended up only staying for a season. 

Manager Jose Mourinho is only in his first term with United as well and will likely be eager to have Ibrahimovic on the books to act as a leader as he continues his project to return United to title challengers.

The Swede worked under the Portuguese boss before at Inter Milan and continues to have a good relationship with Mourinho, a potentially vital point for United if the forward is to remain past the summer, per Squawka:

MLS has historically been a destination for top European players to wind down their careers. Ibrahimovic has proved this season in the Premier League that he still has what it takes to thrive in one of the world's toughest leagues.

United will be eager to persuade him that he should continue for another year at the highest level, but a move to Galaxy seemingly remains an option Ibrahimovic is considering.
