Radamel Falcao Hip Injury Will Cause Star to Miss PSG vs. Monaco

AS Monaco's chances of winning the Coupe de la Ligue final against Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday have taken a major hit, as star forward Radamel Falcao has reportedly failed a fitness test for his injured hip ahead of the clash.

Per Goal.com, the Colombian has been sidelined with the injury for a few weeks, and French outlet RMC Sport (h/t ESPN FC's Jonathan Johnson) reported he won't feature against Les Parisiens:

Falcao is in the midst of a superb season, leading the Monaco attack alongside star youngster Kylian Mbappe. The 18-year-old has risen to the occasion since his partner went down, so all is not lost for the Monegasques.

Mbappe scored in the return leg of the Champions League round-of-16 tie against Manchester City, and according to Get French Football News, his output has been absurd in his last nine starts:

PSG have won the last three editions of the Coupe de la Ligue, one of two major cup competitions in France. As part of their dominant domestic run, Les Parisiens have also won the final two editions of the Coupe de France.

Monaco have served up a tremendous challenge in the 2016-17 campaign so far, however, and lead the Ligue 1 standings. They're also the last French team alive in the UEFA Champions League.

Monaco's main strength has been their attack, and they'll be facing the in-form PSG squad without their most experienced scorer. It's a major setback but should give Mbappe yet another chance to steal the headlines and impress the scouts.
