Roy Jones Jr. Says High School Son Has the Talent and Potential to Play in NBA
Boxer Roy Jones Jr. told TMZ Sports on Tuesday that he believes his son, Roy Jones III, will one day play in the NBA.
"I know he has that potential," Jones said. "He's talented enough to make the NBA, yes."
"I'm not like [LaVar] Ball, going to say that he's the best player in the NBA or that he's better than Steph Curry or Kyrie Irving," Jones Jr. added. "I'm not going that far. But he does want to play on that level one day. I think that he can play on that level, so it's just a matter of time until he gets there."

Yankees OF Carted Off
You can see the full interview with TMZ Sports below, which includes an interesting excerpt on Jones talking about the beef between Ball and LeBron James and why he didn't want his children to box:
Jones III is a 5'8" junior point guard for Pine Forest High in Pensacola, Florida. He has a long way to go before he potentially reaches the NBA. He's being recruited by the Air Force and Army, according to his father, and is playing AAU ball as well.
You can see Jones III in action at Nike South Beach's "The Workout" in October 2016:
As for Jones Jr., he's probably correct in his assessment that his children would have had a difficult time living in his shadow had they taken up boxing, given his long and successful career. Jones was an impressive 65–9 in his career and held titles in four different weight classes.
He seems confident, however, that Jones III will be able to pave his own path in basketball.
