J.D. Martinez Removed from Diamondbacks Debut with Hand Injury
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder J.D. Martinez has been limited once again by an injury, this time to his hand.
The team announced Martinez has a contusion and is day-to-day after X-rays came back negative.
Jody Jackson of Fox Sports Arizona first reported Martinez was taken out of Wednesday's game against the Cincinnati Reds after he was hit on the hand by a fastball. The setback was particularly notable because it was Martinez's Arizona debut after the Detroit Tigers announced they traded him to the Diamondbacks.

Report: MLB Vet Unretires After 1 Day
Injuries have been a problem for Martinez throughout his career. He was limited to fewer than 125 games in five of his first six seasons in the league.
An elbow injury shortened his 2016 season, while he missed the beginning of this year due to a sprain of his Lisfranc ligament in his right foot.
He has been a quality contributor when on the field, though, hitting .305 with 16 home runs in 57 games in 2017.
While this latest issue raises more question marks, the ability to hit when healthy has never been a problem. He earned an All-Star appearance, a Silver Slugger award and some MVP votes in 2015 when he was able to play 158 games.
Although he was limited to just 120 games last year, he had a .307 batting average to go with 22 home runs.
As a free agent after the 2017 season, Martinez must prove he can stay healthy before landing the type of contract he deserves.
