Cribbs spent 10 seasons in the league, including eight with the Cleveland Browns before playing one season each with the New York Jets and Indianapolis Colts. He last appeared in an NFL game during the 2014 season.
The receiver finished with 1,983 yards from scrimmage with nine touchdowns, although he was best known for his work as a returner.
Cribbs had three touchdowns on punt returns and an NFL-record eight touchdowns on kick returns in his career. He totaled four special teams touchdowns in 2009, leading him to a first-team All-Pro selection that season.
His 13,488 total return yards ranks third in NFL history, trailing only Brian Mitchell and Allen Rossum. He was also named to the All-Decade team for the 2000's alongside Dante Hall as the best kick returners.
"I had a great run that I had nothing to be ashamed about or look down on," Cribbs said, per Andrew Gribble of the Browns official site. "I felt like I have nothing but great memories in playing in the NFL. I can now look myself in the mirror and say I'm done."
