Nick Saban Sounds Off on National Championship Ball-Control Concerns
Warning: Video contains profanity.
Nick Saban has won five national championships—four with Alabama—as a head coach, but after his Crimson Tide lost in heartbreaking fashion in the 2017 College Football Playoff National Championship Game, the legendary coach has found himself in unfamiliar territory.
His coaching has (somehow) come into question.
As spring football has kicked off, Saban was asked about whether Alabama would get back to using the running game to control the clock. After all, the Clemson Tigers possessed the ball for nearly 10 more minutes (34:44 to 25:16) in the title game. To be fair to Saban, the Crimson Tide were still in position to win the trophy yet again until the final seconds of the game.
When asked about the strategy, Saban rebuffed those concerns. The Alabama coach noted that if the execution of the game plan had been better, the outcome of the game may have been different.
