WWE SmackDown: Potential Spoilers, Rumors, News and Preview for March 21
As WrestleMania 33 gets ever closer, tensions threaten to ignite on Tuesday's WWE SmackDown.
Shane McMahon ended last week's show with shards of car window in his head. The Miz left the ring flustered. Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt's rivalry continued down its strange road, as The Eater of Worlds baptized himself in ashes.
Uncasville, Connecticut, will host the follow-up to all those stories, to the increasing bad blood ahead of the April 2 pay-per-view.

McMahon will be on the hunt for the man who attacked him in the parking garage last time out: AJ Styles. The Phenomenal One's situation will be one to watch. He was both fired on the previous SmackDown and offered a WrestleMania clash with McMahon.
Fans are poised to find out what's in store for American Alpha, whether any injured stars will make their way back to the ring and if Mojo Rawley is in the midst of a legitimate push.
Backstage news, the SmackDown preview on WWE.com and storyline analysis provide an early glimpse at what's ahead for Tuesday's show when it airs at 8 p.m. ET on USA Network.
News, Potential Spoilers
Former SmackDown women's champ Naomi may be poised to return to action.
There has been no official word on her recovery timetable since she relinquished her title in February due to a sprained ACL. Her father, Derek Mack, offered some info, though.
As Daniel Pena noted on Wrestling Inc, Mack revealed on Twitter that Naomi would be "back by WrestleMania." The tweet has since been deleted. Perhaps that's because her appearance at The Show of Shows was meant to be a surprise.
Erick Rowan could be back before long as well.
The former member of The Wyatt Family is medically cleared after undergoing shoulder surgery last fall. Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet reported in late February, "We're told he's been given the green light."
Rowan, however, hasn't appeared on SmackDown since getting the go-ahead from doctors.
A rumor floating around about WWE having issues with Alexa Bliss appears to be baseless. WWE producer Road Dogg rebuffed a story originally published on Sportskeeda which claimed officials weren't happy with her in-ring work:
The site has since removed the article.
That smells like garden-variety internet junk. Bliss has been an excellent heel and one of the blue brand's best young stars.
She's sure to snag a prominent spot on SmackDown for a long while.
SmackDown Streaks
Rawley is gathering some decent steam ahead of the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania.
The powerhouse celebrated a count-out victory over Dolph Ziggler on the most recent edition of SmackDown. That win could be the start of a new streak for him.
Per CageMatch.net, Rawley had won four SmackDown matches in a row before losing in a Battle Royal on Feb. 21. He's now 6-2 in his last eight bouts overall. Those aren't Goldberg-in-1998 numbers, but it's a sign Rawley is on the rise.
Kalisto's trajectory has looked a lot different of late.
As seen on his CageMatch.net profile, The King of Flight hasn't wrestled on SmackDown since Feb. 21. He has since missed three episodes in a row, and he hasn't won two matches in a row since last July.
It's looking like Kalisto is becoming SmackDown's forgotten man.
WrestleMania Build
Tuesday should provide answers on what WWE plans to do with the SmackDown Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania.
The rest of the blue brand's champions all have matches lined up for the marquee PPV. American Alpha is still waiting to find out where it will end up on the card.
Before The Show of Shows, Chad Gable and Jason Jordan will have to defend the tag titles against The Usos. WWE announced the bout Monday:
If there's some kind of controversial finish, that will be an easy pathway to a rematch at WrestleMania. If other teams get involved, that will point to a multi-team contest. Either way, WWE has to hurry this story along.
Once SmackDown general manager Daniel Bryan announced on last week's SmackDown that The Miz and Maryse vs. John Cena and Nikki Bella is official for The Showcase of the Immortals, the heels retreated from their rivals.
Cena and Bella kissed in the ring while The Miz and Maryse stewed on the entrance ramp.
The SmackDown preview on WWE hinted at the narcissistic couple striking back somehow on Tuesday night: "Will Miz and his dangerous bride attempt to regain some momentum just two weeks before The Ultimate Thrill Ride?"
Styles could be both out of a job and set for a major WrestleMania match.
Bryan fired the former WWE champ following an attack on the SmackDown commissioner last Tuesday. McMahon, though, emerged at the close of the show to call out The Phenomenal One.
The build to this bout has been strong thus far, making it easy to buy into a match that had little appeal on paper.
WWE would be smart to add a stipulation to Styles vs. McMahon. Perhaps the former TNA stalwart has to win to keep his job.
Orton and Wyatt's WWE Championship feud promises to be an intriguing part of SmackDown, too.
The rivalry has been a wild one thus far, with The Viper burning down The Wyatt Family and Wyatt later using the ashes in a ritual. Where will this narrative veer next? The WWE.com SmackDown preview pointed to more mind games: "Who will win the war of intimidation between these two absolute masters of psychological warfare?"
SmackDown has a lot of WrestleMania build to cram into its two hours of airtime. Quite the balancing act will be required to do so properly.
