Arsene Wenger Reportedly Will Tell Arsenal He Wants to Remain Club's Manager

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will tell the club he wants to stay on beyond the current campaign.

That's according to John Percy and Jeremy Wilson of the Daily Telegraph, who reported the Gunners previously prepared a two-year contract for the Frenchman—a deal that is still on the table.

As shared by Bleacher Report UK, the Daily Express reported an agreement has been reached for one more season earlier on Sunday:

German outlet Bild (h/t Metro's Sean Kearns) disagreed, however, as they reported Arsenal have reached out to Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel to replace Wenger. Per their report, the Frenchman will step away after this season ends.

The veteran tactician has been Arsenal's manager since 1996, but after an impressive period of success that saw the club become the only team to win the Premier League title without losing a single match, the Gunners have fallen on some relatively hard times.

Arsenal haven't won a Premier League title since 2004 and are in the midst of a slump, bowing out of the UEFA Champions League against Bayern Munich and suffering a 3-1 defeat at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday that has left them six points off the top four.

Sections of the fans have turned against Wenger over the lack of major silverware and consistency. As of right now, Arsenal sit sixth in the Premier League standings and are in real danger of not qualifying for next year's Champions League, which requires a top-four finish. 

Wenger is 67 years old, and there's a good chance the Arsenal job will be his last. It's easy to see why he's reluctant to leave his post after 21 years in charge of the club.

Plenty of fans will not be happy to hear there will be no managerial change in store for next season if the Arsenal board grant Wenger his wish and keep him on, however.
