WWE Raw: Potential Spoilers, Rumors, News and Preview for March 13

Ryan DilbertMar 13, 2017

Monday's WWE Raw is poised to fill in the missing pieces of the WrestleMania 33 card.

Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson wait to see who will earn a crack at their Raw Tag Team Championship. A tense confrontation between Roman Reigns and Undertaker should lead to an official bout between them at the April 2 pay-per-view. And questions linger about what Samoa Joe and others will be up to at The Showcase of the Immortals.

The Joe Louis Arena in Detroit will play host as the red brand looks to answer some of those questions.

Raw's top match is set as Goldberg will defend the Universal Championship against Brock Lesnar. The midcard is still in the works, though. The tag team title picture will be clarified by the end of the night, but other bouts should come into place as Raw continues to march toward WrestleMania.

Storyline analysis, news updates and the Raw preview on WWE.com offer a look at what to expect when the show airs on Monday at 8 p.m. ET on USA Network.

News, Potential Spoilers

Fans have been on Finn Balor watch for weeks, anxious to know when the former universal champ will step back into the ring on Raw. The wait appears to be almost over.

At a live event in Buffalo, New York, on Friday, Balor returned to official in-ring action for the first time since tearing up his shoulder last August.

It's clear he's ready to go physically. It's now a matter of when and how WWE will incorporate The Demon into the mix in the heart of WrestleMania season.

Rusev, on the other hand, apparently won't be around during the biggest time of the year. Dave Meltzer reported on Figure Four Online that The Bulgarian Brute "will be out of action for some time to come."

This news follows a tweet from Rusev in late February in which he said he would refrain from working out for a month:

His manager and wife, Lana, meanwhile, noted last week she's headed to NXT to "keep on learning."

So Raw may be without a powerhouse in Rusev but should have a beast in tow instead. As Jason Powell of ProWrestling.net noted, Brock Lesnar is "advertised locally" for Monday's Raw.

Raw Streaks

Early on, WWE looks fully behind Samoa Joe.

The Destroyer has a number of wins on his resume already, most recently his takedown of Chris Jericho by count-out last Monday. Per CageMatch.net, Joe has won all of his matches since moving to the main roster, including going 3-0 on Raw.

Joe's been made to look like a dominant force thus far. That's a smart route to take, as it has elevated the former NXT champ, making him a key figure on the red brand in a short amount of time.

Bayley, despite being Raw women's champ, hasn't been as lucky in the wins category. As seen on CageMatch.net, Bayley is on a two-match losing streak on Raw since winning the women's title from Charlotte Flair on Feb. 13.

That's par for the course. WWE has a bad habit of hurting its champions by scripting them to lose frequently in non-title action.

The sooner WWE can stop subjecting Bayley to that pattern, the better.

The Road to WrestleMania Rolls On

Anderson and Gallows will pay close attention to Monday's Raw as Enzo Amore and Big Cass battle Cesaro and Sheamus for the right to face the champs at WrestleMania.

Amore and Cass have squabbled with Cesaro and Sheamus over the past few weeks. And a No. 1 Contender's match on Feb. 20 saw The Realest Guys in the Room come out on top. Will history repeat itself this time around?

Fans should count on the Reigns-Undertaker story to develop in a big way.

Last week, The Deadman and Reigns shared a long, tense moment. They both looked up at the WrestleMania sign hanging in the arena. Undertaker then clobbered Reigns with a chokeslam.

The Big Dog isn't likely to let that slide. The WWE.com Raw preview stated, "Expect major fallout from this potentially fateful face-off."

There may be some clarity on Seth Rollins' situation, as well. It's unclear if he will be healthy enough to compete at WrestleMania after suffering an MCL injury in January.

WWE, though, has not slowed down in building toward a Rollins vs. Triple H match.

The company appears to be confident about The Architect's health. If he's unable to go, however, Balor would make an excellent replacement.

One of the most intriguing narratives on the brand right now is the transformation of Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens from best friends to blood rivals.

Last week, the two Superstars agreed to a United States Championship match at WrestleMania. It's time now to escalate their personal issues, something we may see as soon as Monday night.

The Raw preview on WWE.com stated, "Their paths are sure to cross many times before their anticipated collision on The Grandest Stage of Them All."

That's welcome news. Jericho and Owens' chemistry has been stellar so far. And while Goldberg vs. Lesnar is the marquee match for the Raw brand, Y2J and KO's tale has the potential to be the heart of the WrestleMania build.
