Recap
City faced the tougher challenge on Saturday at Middlesbrough, but David Silva's opening goal after just three minutes ensured the Sky Blues were never put under real pressure by their opponents.
Boro have one eye on the Premier League, where the team faces a real battle to avoid the drop, and the hosts didn't seem too motivated to fight back against City on Saturday.

Instead, manager Pep Guardiola's troops controlled the tempo, and Sergio Aguero added a second goal after 67 minutes to all but end the tie.

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager showered his team with praise after the win, via the club's official Twitter account:
Arsenal were expected to waltz past minnows Lincoln, and while the visitors put together some real resistance in the first half, the gulf in quality showed.
Theo Walcott opened the scoring just before half-time with a deflected effort, and Olivier Giroud doubled the lead early in the second half.
When Luke Waterfall added to the tally with an own goal, BBC Sport's Dan Walker thought the match was over. He praised tiny Lincoln for a solid outing:
Aaron Ramsey and Alexis Sanchez put the final goals on the board, prompting this tweet from former England international Gary Lineker:
The win won't buy manager Arsene Wenger much credit after a difficult week in which the Gunners were demolished by German champions Bayern Munich for a second time this season.
