Jerry Jones Discusses Tony Romo's Future, Confident QB Won't Sign with Rival
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones discussed quarterback Tony Romo's status Saturday and his expectation that the resolution of his situation will be mutually beneficial.
According to Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News, Jones doesn't believe Romo will end up on a team within the division:

In addition to that, Jones suggested Romo won't be interested in doing anything that could potentially damage the Cowboys:
On the heels of Dak Prescott winning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors and being named to the Pro Bowl, Romo is likely to be moved in order to return to a starting role.
Per a recent report from ESPN's Ed Werder, Romo believes it is more likely he will be released than traded.
Jones said Saturday that he hasn't ruled out the possibility of keeping Romo on the team in 2017, however, according to Jarrett Bell of USA Today.
On Friday, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport speculated on the possibility of a three-way trade between the Cowboys, Washington Redskins and San Francisco 49ers with Romo landing in Washington and quarterback Kirk Cousins going to the Niners.
Based on Jones' comments regarding the possibility of Romo playing for a divisional rival, though, it is unlikely that the Cowboys would pursue such a deal.
Romo has appeared in just five games over the past two seasons due to collarbone and back injuries, but he was an MVP candidate during his last full season in 2014.
The four-time Pro Bowler is a major injury risk and is approaching his 37th birthday, but with 248 touchdown passes and four playoff appearances to his credit, there is little doubt that a quarterback-needy team will take a chance on him.
