Karl-Anthony Towns' Father Considering Suing Timberwolves After Mascot Incident
Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns' father, Karl Towns Sr., is reportedly considering a lawsuit against the team for an injury he suffered at the Target Center on Jan. 26.
According to Michael McCann of The Crossover, Towns Sr. suffered a leg injury when the Timberwolves mascot, Crunch, hit an empty row of seats while riding a sled, which led to the seats crashing into Towns' leg.
The elder Towns left the arena on crutches and was seen using crutches during All-Star Weekend.
Following the incident, Jon Krawczynski of the Associated Press tweeted that the stunt had always been done safely previously:
McCann speculated that the likeliest scenario is the two sides reaching a settlement out of court.
While Minnesota is once again struggling this season with a 25-36 record that leaves it three games out of the final playoff spot in the Western Conference, Towns has developed into one of the NBA's best big men.
The 21-year-old is averaging 24.0 points, 12.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.4 blocks per game.
