Thursday Recap
The Whirlwind was the darling of the watching crowd in Watford—as White claimed a spot in the next round.
The fan favourite proved he still has gas in the tank as he collected the single-frame victory over Heathcote.
White prevailed 78-1, keeping his opponent routed to his corner during a fine display from the 54-year-old, who has impressed at recent events.
The player took to social media to express his delight after the match:
Hawkins edged a close match with Yassen, winning 37-4 to beat the clock.
Perry's exit was one of the surprises of the day as he was defeated 61-41 in his single frame against Joyce.
Former world champion Graeme Dott put together the best break of the day in the final match of the night, sinking a wonderful effort of 96 to beat Mitchell Mann.
This is a tournament where any player can progress deep, allowing the individuals who reside lower in the rankings a chance of success.
White reminded snooker fans he is the perfect candidate in a one-frame shoot-out, and he has a shot at the title.
