Blaine Gabbert Signs Contract with Titans After 1 Season with Cardinals
The Tennessee Titans and quarterback Blaine Gabbert came to terms late Monday night on a contract for the 2011 first-round pick to join the depth chart behind Marcus Mariota.
Jim Wyatt of TitansOnline.com reported the deal.
Gabbert never reached expectations after the Jacksonville Jaguars selected him 10th overall. After three lackluster seasons with the Jags, he's gone on to make unsuccessful stops with the San Francisco 49ers (2014-16) and Arizona Cardinals (2017).

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮
The 28-year-old University of Missouri product completed 55.6 percent of his throws with six touchdown passes and six interceptions across five appearances for the Cards last season.
In all, he's tallied 44 passing TDs and 43 picks with a subpar 71.5 passer rating in 48 games.
Gabbert told Bob McManaman of AZCentral Sports in December he still enjoyed football despite his up-and-down career.
"It's a blast," he said. "We've got a great group of guys, and just having the opportunity to be in the huddle with them, that's what I cherish. Just having those conversations in the game, good or bad, it's a fun group to be out there with. That's what I enjoy the most."
The question is how many more chances he'll get to prove himself given the poor results. Pro Football Focus graded him No. 39 among qualified quarterbacks during the 2017 campaign.
Tennessee is the latest organization to give him an opportunity. Although there have been a few promising moments during his career, including early in his time filling in for the injured Carson Palmer in Arizona, there's little reason to believe he's anything more than an emergency fill-in.
Gabbert should compete with Alex Tanney and Tyler Ferguson for the backup job behind Mariota.
