Why The Lakers Will Surpass The 72 Win Bulls Game Total

Joseph DanielsOct 8, 2009

The Bulls had no inside presence, nor did they have great PG play. The Lakers are similar in their PG play, but have much better production upfront. With Bynum ready to take the threshold of the best center in the game, or at least for this season, the second best, Gasol now arguably with Dirk the best PF in the game, the Lakers upfront causes too many mis-matches, and problems for opposing teams. The Spurs are considered to have a great frontcourt, while Gasol and Duncan are similar, Bynum blows McDyess out of the water, if the Lakers and Spurs were to meet, they'd win on their frontcourt alone.

Then on the perimeter, with the newly acquired Ron Artest, he and Kobe should assemble the greatest defensive tandem at the wing positions since Kobe, since after all, both of their games model those two. You know, I thought Ariza could develop into that type of player, and maybe even Artest might be a worse fit, but his talent with Kobe on the wings is just too intimidating for opposing teams. You thought Battier/Artest was scary defensively, imagine that same defensive intensity, but better, with the best offensive player in the game being in that bunch.

Give them two of the best big man in the game, two top three players at their respective positions, and a bench that's proven to have stepped up when counted? Add that to Artest who's an All-NBA defender capable of droppin 18-20 any night, and the best player in the game right now in Kobe Bryant? Damn.

Teams just won't be able to match up with the Lakers. We saw the Nuggets last year, and they've really done nothing to improve themselves, they can claim all they want "chemistry matters," but when the big dogs are getting better, it's time to do so as well if you want to remain at the top. Dallas still doesn't have a center, and going against the Lakers, and a revamped Bynum, and Kobe always going off against the Mavs, that's a joke. The Spurs probably the pose the biggest threat, but we always tend to own them, the Lakers have the better frontcourt, and the best player in the series.

The Jazz aren't that good, the Blazers have potential to be good, and "may" have had our number on their homecourt, but they won't be getting homecourt, and no matter how much Oden produces, Bynum will likely match, and exceed. The Hornets aren't that good, and don't even get me started on the Suns.

The Celtics are too old, Shaq doesn't solve Cleveland's problem to guard the pick and roll, and Orlando just can't beat LA in a seven game series.

Watch out guys, a dynast is comin your way, there's no team close to the Lakers. 73-9, you heard it first here folks. You know the Lakers are stacked when I didn't even mention Lamar Odom in the article, and he's one of the best tweeners in the game, with his defense, rebounding, offensive ability, and the flexibility and further mis-matches he creates on the court. Off the bench he'll wreck havoc, and likely be the consensus 6th Man of the Year, otherwise the award is a flaw.
