Vernon Davis, Redskins Agree to 3-Year Contract
March 8, 2017
Vernon Davis looked at home during his first season in the nation's capital, and the veteran tight end agreed to terms on a new contract early Wednesday morning to ensure he'll remain with the Washington Redskins for the foreseeable future.
CSNWashington.com's Chick Hernandez posted a photo from Davis' Snapchat that confirmed he's signed on for three more years:
Financial terms have not yet been disclosed, but the team did confirm the agreement.
Davis inked a one-year prove-it deal with the Redskins in March 2016, and the 33-year-old flashed consistent hands as one of Washington's supplementary receiving options.

In 16 games—including 14 starts—Davis caught 44 passes for 583 yards and two touchdowns. Additionally, his catch percentage of 74.6 represented the highest mark of his career by more than four percentage points.
"I feel like the older I get, the better I get," Davis said in December, according to Stephen Whyno of the Associated Press. "I feel like I'm just starting, man. I'm just getting started. I tell everyone the same thing: When I lose my speed, then I'll hang it up. But I still have my speed. I can still run. With that, I continue to play this game."
Davis served as the ideal safety blanket alongside the injury-prone Jordan Reed, and his ability to seamlessly vacillate between different roles gave quarterback Kirk Cousins some much-needed peace of mind throughout the 2016 season.
"It's just been a joy to play with him and have him on the team," Cousins said, per Whyno. "And with the injuries that Jordan's sustained, he's become even more valuable needing to step up and be a difference maker."
While Davis' days of piling up gaudy stats appear to be over, his smooth route running, solid in-line blocking and strong hands should help him remain a staple of Washington's offense as the Redskins retool following the departure of offensive coordinator Sean McVay.
