10 NXT Superstars Who Will Make Biggest Impact on WWE's Main Roster in 2017
2016 was the year of the new generation in WWE, and with the current crop of NXT Superstars waiting for their shots at the main roster, 2017 will be no different.
WWE has done an amazing job overhauling its developmental system into one of the best training grounds in all of sports. In a few short years, NXT has become a must-see brand all on its own.
The TakeOver specials never get old because we only get them every few months, and feuds are given a long time to mature because the show can only feature so many storylines with one hour each week.
WWE likes to have a few NXT Superstars appear during the Royal Rumble as surprise entrants to gauge how the crowd reacts to them, so we could see some of the names on this list show up on Jan. 29.
This slideshow will rank the top 10 NXT stars who will make big impacts on the main roster in 2017.
10. TM-61
1 of 10Who needs teams like The Young Bucks when WWE has The Mighty Don't Kneel? Renamed TM-61, Nick Miller and Shane Thorne are the team to watch in 2017.
The duo came close to winning the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, but its performance in the finals against The Authors of Pain opened a lot of people's eyes to what it is capable of.
Its chemistry as a team is on par with some of the best in WWE today, and its Australian heritage gives WWE even greater international appeal.
When DIY is ready to drop the titles and head to the main roster, Miller and Thorne need to be its successors.
9. Tye Dillinger
2 of 10NXT has been great for getting stars ready for the main roster, but one person who was constantly being overlooked was Tye Dillinger.
Dillinger was originally known as Gavin Spears in WWE back in 2008 during a brief run with the new ECW, but he was released in January of 2009.
WWE rehired him in 2013 and put him with the new developmental system in NXT. For over three years, Dillinger has been doing good work, but he has never been rewarded with a real push.
It wasn't until his match with Bobby Roode at TakeOver: Toronto when he would have a breakout performance. Even in a losing effort, Dillinger looked impressive.
He has all the tools to be successful on the main roster, WWE just needs to put him in a position where he can succeed instead of one where he is putting other people over all the time.
8. Austin Aries
3 of 10Austin Aries may be out of action with an injury and doing commentary on 205 Live, but when he returns to the ring, he will be a force to be reckoned with.
Aries was another former TNA and indy star who many wondered if they would ever see in a WWE ring. When he finally made his debut at NXT TakeOver: Dallas with a win over Baron Corbin, the crowd erupted.
Aries is great alongside Corey Graves and Mauro Ranallo on commentary, but he is meant to be inside the ring putting his opponents through the wringer.
Aries would be a fantastic addition to the cruiserweight division, but he could just as easily find success wrestling the rest of the roster.
7. Ember Moon
4 of 10Ember Moon didn't have the same kind of hype coming into WWE as Asuka, but she has quickly established herself as a top competitor in the women's division.
Her athleticism allows her to do the kinds of moves you expect from cruiserweights, and her finisher, when performed properly, is a thing of beauty.
Moon is the clear successor to Asuka when she loses the title, but it wouldn't be surprising to see her show up on Raw or SmackDown in 2017.
6. DIY
5 of 10Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa had one of the best matches of the year during the Cruiserweight Classic, but it was their big tag title win over The Revival that put them on the map.
DIY has grown into one of the most exciting tag teams in all of WWE. Gargano and Ciampa are similar in a lot of ways, but their styles are different enough to keep them from being identical.
When you see teams like The Young Bucks or The Bollywood Boyz, you know both competitors will do the same things in the ring. When you watch DIY, you know they will have different routines.
Whether they come to the main roster as a team or by themselves, Gargano and Ciampa are going to be around for a long time.
5. Bobby Roode
6 of 10So many wrestlers try to be different and original, but Bobby Roode embraces the old-school mentality of wrestling, and he is better off because of it.
Roode's character could be compared to Ric Flair in a lot of ways. He is brash, arrogant and wears a sparkling robe to the ring while an epic song plays in the background.
Then there's his wrestling ability. You won't see Roode doing flips and hurricanranas, but you will see him producing five-star matches.
He is among the best technicians working today, and his mic skills are on the same level. Roode was always one of those TNA stars fans wanted to see jump to WWE, and now that it has happened, we can all sit back and enjoy his glorious run with the company.
4. Asuka
7 of 10Once The Four Horsewomen were all on the main roster, the NXT women's division needed to be replenished with top talents. Asuka has filled that role perfectly.
There's nobody else like her on the roster. Her wrestling style is as stiff as they come, but it's the way she carries herself that separates her from the pack.
Her colorful outfits trick you into thinking she is some bubbly babyface, but as soon as the bell rings, she is all business.
Whether she ends up on Raw or SmackDown, Asuka is going to be WWE women's champion by the end of the year. Any other outcome would be unsatisfactory.
3. The Revival
8 of 10NXT has produced some outstanding tag teams, but few have been as enjoyable to watch over the past year as The Revival.
Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson started in the developmental system as singles wrestlers, but they found out they were much better as a team in mid-2015.
As the only team to win the NXT Tag Team Championships twice, the duo would come to the main roster with high expectations of success.
It had some great matches with American Alpha, so putting the team on SmackDown to rekindle its feud would be the best way to bring The Revival up.
2. Shinsuke Nakamura
9 of 10Shinsuke Nakamura came to WWE with a lot of pressure to succeed, and so far, he has exceeded all expectations put on him by wrestling fans.
His style is unique, and his charisma is off the charts. He can wrestle against any style and have a great match, which cannot always be said about many top stars.
The way WWE has made his TakeOver entrances into special events has added a lot to his character, and imagining what management could come up with for a WrestleMania entrance will get a lot of fans excited for his debut.
Nakamura is the face of NXT, so we might have to wait a while before he makes the jump to the main roster. When it does happen, though, the roof is going to be blown off the arena.
1. Samoa Joe
10 of 10Samoa Joe was just as integral to the early success of TNA as AJ Styles, and his main roster debut is one of the most anticipated in years.
The number of dream matches he could still have with current WWE Superstars could fill an entire year's worth of pay-per-views, and he would tear the house down in every one of them.
Seeing him square off with John Cena or Randy Orton would be amazing, but it would also be fun to see him take on some of his old rivals like AJ Styles.
Joe is a unique talent who has made a name for himself as one of the best big men in the business. When he eventually gets called up, he is going to be unstoppable.
Which NXT Superstars do you think will break out in 2017?
