WWE Raw Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from December 19

Erik BeastonDec 20, 2016

On the heels of a Roadblock pay-per-view that saw new champions crowned and rivalries come to a conclusion, live on the WWE Network, the Superstars of Raw jockeyed for position ahead of the Royal Rumble pay-per-view while simultaneously seeking "winner" status.

Not everyone would be as lucky.

While there was quality storytelling occurring Monday night, some of which produced intriguing storyline developments, there were also missteps that hurt some of the most recognizable stars on the brand.

Noam DarWinnerIntroducing Noam Dar: resident creeper of the cruiserweight division and a big fan of the lovely Alicia Fox. A feud between him and Cedric Alexander should be great fun to follow in the coming weeks.

Biggest Winner: Braun Strowman

The days of Braun Strowman mashing unnamed jobbers into putty are over.

Monday night, the former Wyatt Family big man laid waste to both Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins, announcing to the Raw Universe that he figures to play a major role in the new year. It was the first instance of Strowman being utilized in a role greater than midcard monster.

He warned general manager Mick Foley that his actions would be coming. "Or else," he threatened after telling the authority figure to give him Sami Zayn.

Every great heel has that moment that elevates him to a whole new level. The booking of Strowman to this point, and his breakout Monday night, has prepared him to be a top-shelf villain. Not entirely unlike Umaga, he is a destructive force who has torn through everyone put in front of him and now has enough credibility to compete alongside Reigns and Rollins on a weekly basis.

In a day and age of undefined characters and unintelligible stories, Strowman's journey to this point has been a refreshingly simple and effective bit of build. That will benefit him going forward as he prepares to star on WWE's Road to WrestleMania 33.

Biggest Loser: Sasha Banks

At some point, the lack of quality championship reigns and frequent losses in high-profile pay-per-view matches was going to hurt Sasha Banks. Monday, WWE Creative got a taste of just how much.

Banks limped her way to the ring, the pop that typically accompanies her arrival nonexistent. There was no sympathy to be had. Instead, fans watched almost disappointed; the woman they had invested so much energy in a loser for the fourth time.

The spark, the energy and the excitement that typically follows her into the arena was gone.

A teased feud with Nia Jax was a nice touch and suggests Banks will be able to rebuild in a fresh new feud, but the damage has been done, whether Banks, her fans and the writing staff behind Monday nights wants to admit it or not.
