Manchester United Transfer News: Latest on Memphis Depay and Morgan Schneiderlin
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has admitted offers will be considered for Memphis Depay and Morgan Schneiderlin in the January transfer window, but he has provided Bastian Schweinsteiger some hope of a future of Old Trafford.
Neither Memphis nor Schneiderlin has started a Premier League game for the Red Devils so far this season, with both players struggling to find the form that prompted United to sign them in 2015.
When asked about the future of the pair, Mourinho said that while every player has their price, he’ll leave the decision in their hands, per Mark Ogden of ESPN.co.uk:

"I am always open to listen to offers for every player. But more than listen to offers, I am always ready to listen to the players themselves.
So any player who knocks on my door and is not happy and wants to move, when the offers are correct, I will never stop a player from leaving, even if it is to a rival. When Juan Mata left Chelsea to come to Manchester United, no problem at all. In my mentality, no problem at all. I am always open.
"

According to Chris Wheeler of the Daily Mail, Everton are keen to sign both players in January. Manager Ronald Koeman is said to want to land Schneiderlin outright in midseason and is hopeful of securing Memphis on loan.
Another player who has been a peripheral figure at Old Trafford this season has been Schweinsteiger, with the German veteran making just one substitute appearance in the EFL Cup. However, Mourinho hinted he’ll remain with the Red Devils beyond the January window.
"I do [expect him to stay]," Mourinho said. "Unless, again, the player knocks on our door with a future that he wants to grab with both hands. Then I never stop players doing what they want if, I repeat if, the conditions are right for the club.”

Of all the aforementioned players, it’s most surprising that Schneiderlin has failed to impress Mourinho. As a physical, hard-working and intelligent midfielder, the France international possesses plenty of traits the coach usually looks for in a player.
Before the 27-year-old moved to United from Southampton, he was considered among the finest midfielders in the Premier League.
Memphis' marginalisation is not a big surprise. The winger failed to adapt to the physicality of the Premier League in his first term at the club and didn’t show the application needed to improve. While he is naturally talented, more is needed to thrive for a Mourinho side.
Perhaps a move elsewhere, to a club not as illustrious as United, would bring the best out of the 22-year-old again.
Per BBC Sport’s Simon Stone, Everton are not the only club in the race to sign the Netherlands international:
Schweinsteiger’s status at the club is fascinating. Earlier in the campaign, there seemed to be no way back for the former Germany international, as he was banished from the first-team setup. However, he was drafted back into the squad recently and brought off the bench during the EFL Cup win over West Ham United.
While he's a popular figure at Old Trafford, the 32-year-old will surely have to think carefully about his future. He’ll be delighted to be back in the squad again at least, although in what are the late stages of his career, Schweinsteiger will likely want to be on the pitch much more frequently.
