Projecting Future of WWE Raw Tag Team Division After The New Day's Historic Win
Now that The New Day is done chasing history, the WWE Raw tag team division is set to veer off in a new direction.
The division's main narrative is now over, meaning fresh stories are sure to emerge. And WWE will shift the pieces of the tag team puzzle around. The New Day's record-breaking win will equal change once the celebration is over.
Big E, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods survived two Triple Threat matches on Monday's Raw to cling tight to their tag team titles. The two victories assured The New Day would surpass Demolition as WWE's longest-reigning tag team champions ever.

The champs first fended off both Sheamus and Cesaro and Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson to open Raw.
The trio's after-party didn't go well, though. Woods inadvertently sprayed commissioner Stephanie McMahon with champagne, leading the tyrant to pit the champs against another pair of teams later in the night. Neither Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho nor Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins could end The New Day's title reign, though.
A barely conscious Woods pinned Jericho to clear the way for The New Day to reach 478 days as champions.
Raw's tag team scene has to now reset. The New Day's pursuit of Demolition's record had been the primary focus of the division to this point.
Marc Normandin of Cageside Seats wrote, "WWE has been holding the entire division in stasis while waiting for the record-breaking day to show up on the calendar."
Now what?
The makeup of the division will shift, thanks to some alliances dissolving. That's the way of WWE. Partnerships simply aren't permanent in this world.
The New Day will have to seek out another challenge. The bottom feeders will remain bottom feeders, and Raw is likely to welcome outsiders to shake things up.
Adjustments of Alliances
Big Cass and Enzo Amore won't be factors in the tag team scene.
A rivalry between The Realest Guys in the Room and The New Day seemed inevitable when those two trash-talking teams crossed paths earlier this year. But that meeting of fan favorites won't happen.
WWE will be more interested in elevating Big Cass as a solo act.
We are already seeing that at play, as Cass is set to collide with Rusev. The Bulgarian Brute beat down Amore last week, leaving Cass seething with anger. A brawl erupted on Monday's Raw, and WWE soon booked a match between the two hosses for the Roadblock: End of the Line pay-per-view on Sunday.
Big Cass is the type of oversized athlete WWE has long coveted. He's bound to get major spotlight during a solo run.
Amore's role will be more mouthpiece than partner.
As for The New Day, a similar situation will unfold. Big E won't be with The New Day forever.
That sounds blasphemous, given how entertaining the trio has been for two years, but The New Day has done everything it can. The group has twice won the tag titles, it has broken every tag record out there and it has taken on every team on the Raw roster at some point.
Rather then let The New Day's act grow stale, the company is likely to take a shot with Big E, pushing him as a singles star in the near future.
The New Day's split will be amicable to leave the door open for reunions. As fans have seen throughout history, though, teams rarely stay together. WWE more often wants to focus on individuals.
Big E's size and explosiveness will net him another opportunity on his own, while Woods and Kingston will have to venture elsewhere. One option for Woods is entering the cruiserweight division and boosting it with his personality.
Bottom Rungs
Time and again, it looked as if WWE finally believed in The Club.
Gallows and Anderson, however, are not priorities for the company. Since arriving from New Japan Pro Wrestling this year, the duo has stumbled, thanks to inconsistent booking.
That won't get any better with The New Day out of the way.
Gallows and Anderson's record following the draft has been a pedestrian 8-8-1, per CageMatch.net. That's a sign of WWE not thinking of them as anything more than a middle-of-the-road team.
The Club will sit just above The Shining Stars and The Golden Truth on the Raw tag team hierarchy.
Those two comedy duos will fade further and further from the spotlight. It's telling that four squads took on The New Day on Monday and The Shining Stars and The Golden Truth were not among them. They are both filler and will remain that way.
Sheamus and Cesaro have the best shot at taking over The New Day's spot.
Their chemistry as rivals-turned-reluctant-partners has been intriguing. Cesaro has been a thrill to watch. And this pairing gives both men direction they lacked beforehand.
The two European bruisers will soon find that the division transforms in a hurry, thanks to both departures and arrivals. Neville finding a partner eventually will be a part of the latter, as will a call-up from NXT.
New Blood on the Way
The Revival, the two-time NXT tag team champs, will provide Raw with a boost before long.
Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder have been flourishing in WWE's developmental brand for two years. Their smashmouth, throwback style has powered many a great match, including two thrillers against current NXT champs Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa.
The Revival is more than ready to make the leap to Raw.
In fact, as Monday's Raw unfolded and it looked like The New Day was set for a daunting challenge, many predicted Dawson and Wilder would make their arrivals.
Wrestling Inc laid out a possible debut scenario for The Revival on Monday night:
In the coming weeks, audiences should be on the lookout for Dawson and Wilder to storm onto the Raw brand. Their presences would create a whole new set of fresh matchups. They could be the catalyst for The New Day to split or the team that is next to break Cesaro and Sheamus' hearts.
Either way, Raw's tag team scene is bound to undergo a makeover after The New Day's historic feat. It's time for other squads to summit WWE's mountain.
