WWE Superstar Power Rankings Ahead of December 5 Raw

The Doctor Chris MuellerDec 5, 2016

The past week has been an interesting time in WWE. Not only did we get the debut of 205 Live on Tuesday, but we also saw four titles change hands in the span of seven days.

Sasha Banks regained the Raw Women's Championship, Rich Swann defeated The Brian Kendrick to become the new cruiserweight champion, Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt won the SmackDown tag titles and Alexa Bliss overcame Becky Lynch to win the SmackDown Women's Championship.

Sunday's Tables, Ladders & Chairs pay-per-view may have been more predictable than some would like, but nobody can deny how good the show was from a wrestling standpoint.

With so much happening in the space of a week, it's hard to narrow down the power rankings to just 10 Superstars, so some will be paired together since they are on the list for the same match or segment.

Let's take a look at who topped this week's WWE Superstar power rankings.

10. The New Day

1 of 10

The New Day has been defending its titles on what seems like a weekly basis as the team gets closer to breaking Demolition's record as the longest-reigning tag team champions.

No matter how much we see Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods and Big E, they remain one of the best acts going in WWE today.

Most babyfaces would have a hard time staying popular for this long, especially with such a dominant title reign, but The New Day keeps finding a way to make us laugh.

When the group eventually becomes the longest-reigning tag champs in WWE history, we should expect a big celebration to commemorate the occasion.

9. Seth Rollins

2 of 10

The way WWE has transitioned Seth Rollins from a vicious heel into a babyface has been one of the most well-executed turns we have seen in years.

Rollins doesn't pander to the crowd or suddenly get along with people he once called enemies. He is still a cocky, temperamental opportunist who is simply focusing on the bad guys instead of the good guys.

The backstage attack on Chris Jericho was one of the better fights we have seen outside the ring this year, and the Pedigree on top of the car was the icing on the cake.

The Architect is going to be at the top of the ladder in WWE for a long time, and if he continues putting on show-stealing performances, he will earn himself a spot in the Hall of Fame when his career is over.

8. Baron Corbin and Kalisto

3 of 10

The one stipulation nobody has been able to make exciting is a chairs match, but that all changed Sunday night when Kalisto and Baron Corbin surprised everyone by putting on one of the best bouts of the night.

Both men contributed to a great performance. They were creative in the way they used the chairs and were willing to take a few risks to make sure the bout looked good.

Kalisto has been the winner in most of their showdowns, so it was good to see The Lone Wolf pick up the victory to give him some momentum.

Corbin may not be ready to main-event PPVs yet, but he needs a title to chase. It's time he started going after the Intercontinental Championship.

7. Cesaro and Sheamus

4 of 10

Cesaro and Sheamus took a long time to get on the same page, but after coming together during a bar fight on Raw, it looks like the two European brawlers may be ready to end The New Day's title reign.

Odd-couple tag teams are hit-or-miss. Sometimes it is the natural progression of a long storyline, but sometimes it's a random pairing to give two people something to keep them busy.

Cesaro and Sheamus had a long feud before general manager Mick Foley forced them to become a team. Their constant one-upmanship made for some funny moments, but it will be better to see them work like a well-oiled machine.

The next Raw PPV is Roadblock: End of the Line on Dec. 18. It wouldn't be surprising to see Cesaro and Sheamus become the new tag team champions there.

6. Rich Swann and The Brian Kendrick

5 of 10

Swann and Kendrick were tasked with headlining a brand new show on the WWE Network for the cruiserweights and did not disappoint.

205 Live managed to do more for the cruiserweight division in one hour than a few months of Raw appearances had been able to do.

The match was great, but it was seeing Swann win the title which made the moment so special. Kendrick is the best heel in the division, so he was the perfect person to put someone like Swann over.

The cruiserweights will still appear on Raw every week, but we should expect the best matches and moments to take place on 205 Live moving forward.

5. Alexa Bliss and Becky Lynch

6 of 10

Bliss and Lynch had the unenviable job of trying to follow Charlotte and Banks' historic Hell in a Cell match with a tables match.

When it comes to excitement, tables are not as fun as a giant cage surrounding the ring, but Bliss and Lynch did the best with what they had.

What made their match surprising was seeing Bliss defeat Lynch for the SmackDown Women's Championship, making her the first woman to hold a title this year who is not one of the Four Horsewomen.

Lynch, Banks and Charlotte have owned the championship scene for a long time, so it's great to see some new Superstars start to make names for themselves.

Raw may have a slight advantage when it comes to star power, but SmackDown's women's division is just as capable of putting on great matches.

4. Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt

7 of 10

Most fans still don't know what to think about the partnership between Orton and Wyatt, but one thing is for sure: They are the new tag team champions.

Their title win didn't mean as much as it could have because WWE has dropped the ball with Heath Slater and Rhyno over the past month.

Watching Slater fight to get a contract was a lot of fun, but ever since he and Rhyno won the titles, WWE hasn't known what to do with them.

Putting the belts on Wyatt and Orton was the best move for several reasons. Wyatt gets to hold his first title in WWE, Slater and Rhyno go back to being underdogs and the tag team division gets a lot more interesting as a whole.

3. Sasha Banks and Charlotte

8 of 10

Banks and Charlotte have made making history into a regular thing, and their title match on Raw was no exception.

Every so often, two Superstars come along who have more chemistry together than they do with anyone else on the roster. Banks and Charlotte are two of those people.

They are incapable of having a bad match together, and while some would like to see longer title reigns, it's always exciting to see a belt change hands.

Their feud has dominated the whole of 2016, but it's time to move on. There are other women on Raw who deserve some time in the spotlight, and we should see more of them in 2017.

2. AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose

9 of 10

The legacy of Tables, Ladders & Chairs matches is one of brutality and excitement. Styles and Ambrose had a lot to live up to on Sunday but were more than up to the task.

Mentioning every big spot would make this slide too long, so let's just say that if you didn't see their contest at TLC, you missed a demolition derby.

The only thing some people are going to have an issue with is how it ended. James Ellsworth turned on the man who has been defending him for weeks and helped Styles retain the WWE Championship.

He explained on Talking Smack how he only did it because he feels he can defeat Styles for the title, but don't expect Ambrose to care what his excuse is.

When SmackDown goes live on Tuesday, The Chinless Wonder is going to have a target on his back and a lunatic looking to get a bull's-eye.

1. The Miz and Dolph Ziggler

10 of 10

For the second SmackDown PPV in a row, Ziggler and The Miz stole the show. It's just too bad Mick Foley made this their final Intercontinental Championship match, because it means they have to move on.

This feud has brought out the best in both men in more ways than one. Their in-ring work has been incredible, and they have stepped up on the mic in a big way.

With all the fresh blood being injected into the roster, it's great to see two veterans who have often been overlooked doing such good work together.

Picking the best match at TLC is going to be a matter of opinion, but for this writer's money, Ziggler and The Miz had the best performances. The A-Lister even managed to retain without any help from his wife at ringside.

As was stated in the intro, this was an especially hard week to pick the top 10, and a few names had to be left off the list who probably deserved to make it, so take a moment and share your own Power Rankings in the comments section.
