WWE Raw: Potential Spoilers, Rumors, News and Preview for December 5

Ryan DilbertDec 5, 2016

New champions will walk into the Dec. 5 edition of WWE Raw with their gold held high.

Sasha Banks is poised to enter Monday's show as the Raw women's champion once more. She knocked off Charlotte Flair in a Falls Count Anywhere match last week.

Rich Swann will have ample reason to celebrate when Raw heads to Austin, Texas, too. He's fresh off toppling The Brian Kendrick on the debut of 205 Live to capture the Cruiserweight Championship.

Those titleholders won't have a ton of time to savor their victories. The Roadblock: End of the Line pay-per-view is set for Dec. 18.

WWE will have to hurry along the construction of the card. As a result, Raw's rivalries are bound to grow intense in a hurry. Who will challenge Braun Strowman? What's next for the vengeance-hungry Seth Rollins?

Backstage news, the Raw preview on WWE.com and analysis of current storylines point to what's to come. Raw's march toward Roadblock will continue on Monday at 8 p.m. ET on the USA Network.

News, Potential Spoilers

The women's division may soon be adding some depth. Dave Meltzer reported on Figure Four Online that "Tamina Snuka has been cleared to return after being out since May with knee surgery."

Snuka was previously Naomi's muscle, but she has been absent from TV for months. She was not included in July's brand draft, as she was still injured.

Another familiar face is more likely to emerge first, though. Emma has long been medically cleared, but WWE has waited to reintroduce her. Vignettes announcing that she will morph into Emmalina have aired for weeks.

Now that the fallout from Survivor Series is done, it's likely Emmalina's re-debut is on its way.

And regarding the burgeoning Kevin Owens vs. Roman Reigns feud, WWE has seemingly shifted its attention away from Reigns' United States Championship.

Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t Raj Giri of Wrestling Inc) that WWE's original plan for Reigns vs. Owens from last week was to be for the U.S. title. The company changed its mind, as Reigns was instead battling to become the No. 1 contender to the Universal Championship.

This shift from what we've been seeing with recent house shows, where Reigns' title was the focus, is likely a precursor to WWE pushing that prize into the background of this story.

Raw Streaks

Strowman continues to flaunt his monstrous power. The big man has steamrolled his competition of late.

Per CageMatch.net, Strowman has won 13 one-on-one matches in a row. His latest victory came in just 30 seconds, as he gobbled up R-Truth last Monday.

WWE is building Strowman up as one of Raw's most dominant forces. There's a slight chance Sami Zayn is the one to stop his roll, but the safer bet is that the beast keeps moving up the food chain.

Noam Dar's Raw experience hasn't been anything like Strowman's.

The Scottish Supernova has remained unfamiliar with victory since joining the cruiserweight division. Swann bested him last week. That marked his third consecutive loss on Raw, per CageMatch.net.

He's 0-3 on the red brand thus far.

WWE has struggled to book the cruiserweight division in a balanced fashion. Kendrick and Swann have looked strong, but everyone else, Dar included, has been struggling for momentum.

On the Road to Roadblock

There is suddenly new energy surrounding the Cruiserweight Championship picture, as a new face now sits atop the division. Swann will enter Monday's Raw with the title in hand.

The Raw preview asked, "How will Swann's victory shake things up on Raw Monday night?"

For one, that result will send Kendrick into a rage. That's sure to be the catalyst for the former champ's next feud, be it against Swann or TJ Perkins, who he dethroned at Hell in a Cell.

Whatever WWE has planned for Swann and the men chasing him, it has to dive into just who the champion is. He has personality aplenty. The company must tap into it.

The Zayn vs. Strowman rivalry has seen the babyface direct his frustrations toward his boss of late.

Raw general manager Mick Foley intervened last week when it looked as if Strowman was going to devour Zayn live on TV. The Underdog From The Underground resented that, barking at Foley.

Monday's show promises to dig further into that narrative, perhaps setting up a match where Zayn challenges the monster in unsanctioned action.

Roadblock looks to be showcasing another intense rivalry as well. Rollins and Chris Jericho look well on their way to colliding at the PPV.

Jericho cost Rollins a shot at the Universal Championship two weeks ago when he attacked The Architect while wearing a Sin Cara mask. Last Monday, Rollins got a measure of revenge when he throttled Jericho in a parking lot.

Y2J is certain to do more than put Rollins on The List of Jericho for that.

Is the Banks-Flair saga over now that The Boss once again has possession of the Raw Women's Championship? Fans shouldn't count on that.

The Raw preview on WWE.com asked, "Will Charlotte take aim at the new Raw women's champion this Monday night, or will she bide her time?"

That is potentially a tease of The Queen charging at Banks once more. That rivalry, though, needs a long break. These two warriors have been trading the women's title and tearing at each other's throats for months.

Although the build to Roadblock is short, WWE will be better off letting Banks clash with Nia Jax, while Flair tangles with Bayley. Banks and Flair have been killing it against each other, but the division needs to be more diverse.
