Best Sports Stuff Right Now: Flopping, LeBron the Buckeye and Cleat Week!

Chris RolingNov 30, 2016

Cleat Week descends upon the sporting world to help shake off food comas from Thanksgiving feasts during some of the best football of the year.

The march to December and beyond is looking like an exciting time. Athletes continue to promote good causes with attire and post ridiculous performances in their sports of choice. While we're at it, Floyd Mayweather is writing massive checks on social media and the globe finally gets the return of Tiger.

So yes, sports are here to warm the winter, which is very much coming.

Within, let's take a look at the best sports stuff right now.

Cleat Week

1 of 15

Bleacher Report and Pittsburgh Steelers wideout Antonio Brown team up this week for Cleat Week. The video above shows off the ridiculous kicks that Brown will rock in Week 13 against the New York Giants.

This is the first time the NFL will allow players to wear custom cleats on the gridiron, with many of the sport's biggest names using the chance to promote good causes.

Including AB, Cleat Week will be chronicling five players as the weekend approaches, so stay tuned.

Kelce's Custom Cleats

2 of 15

Up next, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

Kelce gets an epic pair of cleats from Mache, a designer who knocks these kicks out of the park. Check them out in the video above.

Like others, Kelce's amazing designs go toward a good cause. Salute.

Zeke Cleats

3 of 15

Brown and Kelce aren't the only superstars rocking epic cleats in Week 13.

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott? It's all about his dog, and his efforts will help support animals.

ESPN's Darren Rovell captured the incredible-looking cleats, which give all designs trotted out this year a run for their money.

Like the rest in Week 13, these promote a cause everyone can get behind.

Rolling Giants Get a Big Test

4 of 15

The New York Giants look like one of the best teams in football right now. That's fun—it means Eli Manning and Co. might be the only team capable of stopping the New England Patriots.

Well, maybe. The Giants have now won six in a row, but MMQB.com's Peter King stressed caution with the rolling Giants:

"

The Giants, who won their sixth in a row (27-13 over Cleveland) to move two wins ahead of Washington and stay two games behind Dallas. Now here comes the eight-day test everyone in Giantland’s been awaiting: at Pittsburgh next Sunday, home with Dallas the Sunday after that. New York’s six-game streak has come, in order, over Baltimore, the Rams, Philly, Cincinnati, Chicago and Cleveland. The Bengals, Bears and Browns are a combined 5-28-1.

"

Maybe the Giants vanquish a villain this year. Maybe not. Either way, it is now time for the Giants to prove they deserve the budding hype.

Tiger Woods Is Back

5 of 15

Tiger Woods returns Thursday at the Hero World Challenge.

That sentence alone could end this entire analysis. Woods is arguably more important to his sport than any other individual in a different one. Rest assured, folks will hang on every shot and mannerism as Woods plays in his first competitive tournament since August 2015.

“I know that's a tall order since I've been away from the game for so long and I've made a lot of different changes in my game, but the mindset's still the same. That is to go out there and try to beat these guys,” Woods said, according to USA Today's Steve DiMeglio.

How unlikely would a Woods win be? It'd fit right in with 2016 as a whole, so don't miss out.

Westbrook's Epic Pace

6 of 15

Remember when it was a funny idea that Russell Westbrook could average a triple-double with Kevin Durant out of the picture?

Good times.

Westbrook has put the Oklahoma City Thunder on his back, posting the downright insane numbers above.

His performance has the team rolling, of course, with the Thunder sitting on an 11-8 mark and the top slot in the Northwest Division.

Is the pace sustainable? For Westbrook, it just might be.

Matty Ice Keeps Marching

7 of 15

Matt Ryan isn't receiving the hype of someone such as say, Westbrook, but the Atlanta Falcons quarterback is on an epic tear worth noting.

Ryan, now 31 years old after entering the league in 2008, has consistently produced eye-popping numbers no matter what goes on around him, whether it's shoddy defense, questionable coaching or something else.

The above record says it all. Ryan has once again hit cruise control, which is statistically more impressive than most players in NFL history. He has 26 touchdowns to six interceptions on the year with the Falcons at 7-4 and first place in the NFC South.

Time to slap him in the MVP discussion, folks.

Ravens Want Points for Kickoffs

8 of 15

A major rule change could be coming to the NFL.

All right, maybe not—but boy, this one is fun to think about. Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh and kicker Justin Tucker talked about the idea of awarding a point to teams who send a kickoff sailing through the uprights about 75 yards away, according to CSN Mid-Atlantic's Bo Smolka.

Fun idea? Stupid stuff reserved for a video game? Opinions will vary, but if the NFL wants safer kickoffs and another layer to late-game strategy, this might be something to think about for the next week or so.

LeBron's Next Career Move

9 of 15

LeBron James' football wishes aren't anything new.

James admitting, even jokingly, he might want to play? Game on.

This was obviously made in jest, because James isn't eligible for college football (right?)—but nobody could argue it wouldn't be interesting to see him line up and play tight end.

More than anything, this is a celebration of Ohio State's 30-27 overtime escape of Michigan in The Game.

With the College Football Playoff on the way, the best is yet to come.

A Flop to Make International Footballers Proud

10 of 15

A lot of people dislike Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict.

Burfict didn't do himself any favors in a Week 12 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, getting into a bit of a cat fight with wide receiver Steve Smith.

As the above video shows, Burfict went on to commit the flop to end all flops.

The best part? Now fans get to see if anyone tries to match Burfict's flop game this weekend.

14 Hours 'Till Vinsanity

11 of 15

Gone are the days when Vince Carter goes between the legs on a dunk or hangs out with his elbow on the rim, revolutionizing the game as we know it.

That doesn't mean the 39-year-old guard doesn't have fans.

Just look at the above—a fan traveled all the way from China to see Vinsanity for herself.

Her reaction? Priceless. It's the reason sports exist.

Forte Goes Undercover

12 of 15

One of the bigger storylines of last year's NFL offseason was the Chicago Bears moving on from longtime running back Matt Forte.

So Bleacher Report did what anyone would do and decided to see if fans had forgotten about one of the Bears' legendary faces.

They didn't. Well, sort of.

Either way, Forte has kept doing his thing this year with 759 rushing yards and seven scores.

The Reunion the NBA Needs

13 of 15

The NBA needs DeMarcus Cousins and John Wall to team up.

Maybe that's a slight exaggeration, but a superstar like Cousins sticking with a team like the Sacramento Kings and drawing huge free agents would do wonders to expand the usual-suspects list of contenders.

After all, Cousins isn't getting anything done with the Kings and Wall's Washington Wizards are...odd at best. The above quote is an excerpt from Candace Buckner of the Washington Post, who mentions the two have talked about this before.

Here's to hoping.

Money Calls Out Legacy-Bashers

14 of 15

Floyd Mayweather doesn't care about anyone's opinion when it comes to his legacy.

Those who think Money took the superfight with Manny Pacquiao too late for it to matter? Whatever. Those who say Mayweather won't step into a superfight with Conor McGregor? Good for them. Those suggesting he's too afraid to try for 50-0? Pfft.

What does it matter when the guy can pen a check for $100 million?

The guy's nickname is Money, after all, so let's not pretend we didn't know his top motivation all along.

David Johnson's MVP Push...as a WR

15 of 15

While the globe salivates over the incredible output from rookie Ezekiel Elliott with the Dallas Cowboys, David Johnson of the Arizona Cardinals continues to put on an unmatched show.

As this Bleacher Report tweet illustrates, Johnson has more receiving yards (613) than big names such as DeAndre Hopkins and Allen Robinson.

To make it more impressive, Johnson has also rushed for 921 yards and 10 scores through 11 games—better numbers than his 16-game rushing totals from 2015.

Johnson at least deserves a mention in the MVP discussion.
