Arsenal Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Mathieu Debuchy and Josh Tymon
Arsenal full-back Mathieu Debuchy will reportedly try and force his exit from the north London club during the January transfer window. The Frenchman has barely featured for the Gunners in the last two seasons and was even said to have been a target for Arsenal's Premier League rivals Manchester United last season.
Now the former Lille and Newcastle United man is ready to quit the club he signed for in 2014. The London Evening Standard's James Olley has detailed how Debuchy is feeling out of favour under manager Arsene Wenger: "The 31-year-old is believed to be frustrated by a lack of first-team football at Emirates Stadium and has become further disillusioned after being overlooked in favour of Carl Jenkinson to replace the injured Hector Bellerin at right-back."

Jenkinson replaced an injured Bellerin for the Gunners' recent trip to take on United at Old Trafford, a game that ended 1-1. The decision to let Jenkinson play has seemingly convinced Debuchy it's time to move on.

His belief in the necessity for an exit may be strengthened by Olley's assertion that Jenkinson is likely to keep his place in the starting XI. The ex-Charlton Athletic prospect will reportedly start Arsenal's upcoming match against Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League.
However, Olley did outline how the veteran French right-back could still see some playing time: "Debuchy will be on standby should Jenkinson suffer an injury and while the Frenchman could also feature in next week’s EFL Cup quarter-final tie against Southampton, it is unlikely to prove sufficient to avoid him attempting to seek a mid-season switch."
Those plans are unlikely to be enough for a player who lost his job to Bellerin after injury struck early in his Arsenal career. A loan spell at Bordeaux proved ill-fated, as Debuchy continued to struggle for fitness.

Debuchy could have gone to United instead of Bordeaux. French publication L'Equipe (h/t Metro's Mark Brus) reported the Manchester club even wanted to offer Debuchy a five-year deal this past January.
Back in February, Debuchy told French television station Canal+ (h/t Nick Lustig of Sky Sports) it was Wenger who blocked the move.
Yet there are those who believe Debuchy still has a future at Arsenal. Among them, B/R's James McNicholas thinks the Frenchman is still a better option than a nervy Jenkinson.
He even indicated Wenger's stance on the outcast player might be softening:
"It seems that after months in the cold, Wenger is readying Debuchy for action. Last week, he played for Arsenal’s under-23 side in a 2-0 victory over neighbours Tottenham. Not only did the Frenchman look defensively adept, but he also scored, crashing home a close-range volley in the 65th minute.
"
Whether Wenger does favour Debuchy's experience or not, the player would still have a lot to do to win over his doubters. Injuries, public dissatisfaction and shaky performances have blighted his Arsenal career.
Jenkinson is raw, but he's at least committed. It might be best for both club and player if Debuchy can force an exit from the Gunners this winter.
Gunners Keen on Josh Tymon
Wenger may already be looking for his next prospect at full-back. The Gunners are said to be increasing their interest in Hull City's teenage defender Josh Tymon, according to ESPN FC.
The same report indicates Arsenal have been keen on Tymon since he played against them in last season's FA Cup. Still just 17, Tymon recently made his full senior debut in the Premier League, when he featured in a defeat against Sunderland.

Hull are already mindful of the growing number of suitors for Tymon. The names from England's top flight also include Liverpool and Everton.
Yet the Tigers are moving quickly to keep Tymon at Hull. In fact, the club is already talking to the player about signing a first professional deal, per Philip Buckingham of the Hull Daily Mail.
Buckingham also noted how Tymon is keen to stay: "Tymon, as well as his family and representatives, are thought to believe an extended stay with City will best suit his development."
However, the young left-back may have his head turned if the Tigers suffer relegation. They are currently third from bottom.
Tymon often plays left-back, where Kieran Gibbs has struggled to stay fit for Arsenal. The latter was usurped by Nacho Monreal three years ago, but the Spaniard is now 30.

Wenger has never been afraid to give young players a chance. He may be ready to quickly develop another prospect into a first-team regular.
Refreshing things at the back will be necessary for Arsenal in the coming seasons. Keeping faith in Jenkinson, while also adding Tymon, would be a good way to do it.
