Wake Forest Investigating Louisville Allegedly Obtaining Game-Plan Materials

Timothy RappNov 16, 2016

The Wake Forest football program is investigating whether documents with information about the team's game plan for last Saturday's game against Louisville ended up in the hands of the Cardinals.

"We are concerned that there was some type of security breach," head coach Dave Clawson said Tuesday, per Dan Collins of the Winston-Salem Journal. "I have shared it with [athletic director] Ron Wellman, and we’re doing everything we can to make sure all of our information and data is more secure moving forward."

Louisville beat Wake Forest 44-12.

Clawson told Wellman of the potential breach Friday evening before Louisville's big victory over Wake Forest. A member of Wake Forest's traveling party found a number of documents at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium ahead of the game.

"Since that time we have been looking at various possibilities and haven’t come up with anything for certain at this point," he said, per Collins. "But we will continue to review everything that we do and investigate how this might have happened and make sure it doesn’t happen in the future."

"I have no knowledge of the situation," Louisville head coach Bobby Petrino said in a statement, per Gentry Estes and Steve Jones of the Courier-Journal. "We take a lot of pride in the way we operate our program. As I've stated already this season, my coaching philosophy has always been to play the game with sportsmanship. Right now, our focus is on our game tomorrow at Houston and finishing the 2016 season strong."

Wake Forest held a 12-3 lead at halftime before the Cardinals rattled off 41 unanswered points, led by Brandon Radcliff's three rushing touchdowns.
