This is the NFL 1000. The 1,000 best players in the league today, ranked by our NFL Scouting Department based on their on-field play and positional value.

To tackle those questions and more, our team of scouts conducted an exhaustive film review and graded every non-rookie on a 100-point scale built from position-specific traits.

Edge-rushers are graded on five categories: pass rush (30 points), run defense (25), disruptiveness (20), tackling (15) and versatility (10). Trait scores add up to the grade, and when multiple players received the same score, their ranking was determined by a majority vote among the group.

Wilson will hope a change of scenery is a boost, as the former top 10 pick has not played to that level of expectation so far in his career.

Williams stands out dramatically in this group. The 2025 No. 11 overall pick has a tough road back from injury, but if he can get back and stay on the field, the potential for a huge rise in the rankings is possible.
Ebiketie trading Atlanta for Philly is an interesting move and could be the change of scenery needed to give him a boost up.

Future Hall of Famer, Von Miller, can still contribute to a contending team. As can Joey Bosa. And contribute is what this group of players is all about.
The Falcons' young duo of Pearce Jr. and Walker has the potential for big moves up the board in the future.
Editor's Note: After time of writing, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Steve Wyche reported Tuesday (8/4) that Walker "is feared to have torn his ACL" after he suffered an injury and was carted off during practice. He will undergo an MRI to confirm the setback, which Rapoport noted "drew an emotional reaction from his team."

It's hard to find a player facing a bigger make-or-break year than the Giants' 25-year-old Kayvon Thibodeaux. Taken fifth overall in 2022, he has not developed into the consistent sack artist New York hoped for and is in danger of being phased out.
Meanwhile, the No. 1 overall pick that year, Travon Walker, just received a major contract extension and needs a stronger year rushing the passer in 2026 to justify it.

Teammates Burns and Carter could be poised for big seasons if New York's new coaching staff gets this team believing. Even after dealing away Dexter Lawrence, the Giants have great potential to get after the quarterback.
Trey Hendrickson forced his way out of Cincy and wound up with a division rival. Sacking his way into the top 10 next year is very much in play.
And Byron Young could see a boost after the Rams brought in Myles Garrett to lead their pass rush. A player of Garrett's talent can make everyone around him better.

Forver-linked with Garrett courtesy of the trade, Jared Verse will be out this season to try and make a name for himself in Cleveland. Already a top 10 pass rusher at 25 years old, he should be a mainstay in these rankings for years.
Same goes for the 26-year-old Bonitto.
Watt, meanwhile, lands outside the top seven. Though not the same player he once was, the Steelers' superstar still excels at game-wrecking plays.

You know exactly what you're getting from Crosby and Bosa at this stage, while Hutchinson, a game-changing pass-rusher, still has room for improvement overall, but is already the No. 7 edge in the game.
The Texans' pairing of Hunter and Anderson Jr. is almost unfair. They make up the league's best pass-rush duo, but shine individually as well.
These top seven rankings are all warranted, but each and every one of them would be hard-pressed to unseat either of the two superstars ranked higher.
