Tottenham Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Moussa Marega and Domenico Berardi
Reported Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Moussa Marega could complete a move to the Premier League in January, despite his current status as a loan player with Vitoria Guimaraes. Meanwhile, Inter Milan are said to be preparing a major offer for Sassuolo starlet Domenico Berardi.
Marega is currently on loan with Guimaraes from FC Porto, but according to the Sunderland Echo, Portuguese sources say the Dragons could still move on the 25-year-old in January.
Liverpool and Sunderland are also said to be interested, but the source maintained no one has yet contacted Porto.

Marega left Porto for Guimaraes following the emergence of star prospect Andre Silva, giving both strikers the opportunity to play regular minutes. He has scored 10 goals in eight matches, per the report, good enough for the lead in the Portuguese top scorer's race―ahead of Silva.
Here's a look at some of his highlights:
Marega has tantalising physical tools, as he combines impressive raw strength with great athleticism and a surprising burst of speed. He also loves to dribble and isn't afraid to move out wide and take on his defender, similar to what Romelu Lukaku sometimes does for Everton.
The Mali international spent the bulk of his career playing in lower divisions before he caught a break with Maritimo, and his rise has been rapid since then.
His spell with Porto was a bit of a disappointment, but he's rediscovered his shooting boots with Guimaraes. Per WhoScored.com, his efficiency in front of goal is impressive:
There are serious question marks over whether Marega is actually good enough to hold his own at the Premier League level or even for a top Portuguese team, however. His spell with the Dragons was so poor, fans were putting together mocking compilation videos of poor touches and laughably bad misses before long.
Portuguese football insider Jan Hagen doubts whether a Premier League move would be a great idea right now, per the Sunderland Echo report:
"He’s big, extremely strong and quick. He’s primarily a great finisher and is also a danger in the air.
He didn’t manage to make a name for himself at Porto, hence why he’s on loan at Vitoria this season.
I’m not sure a move to the Premier League would be right for him at the moment, as he is yet to assert himself at the highest level.
"
Marega has all of the tools, but until he proves he can shine for a top club, he's not a target Spurs should actively chase.
Elsewhere, Fabrizio Romano and Edo Dalmonte of Calciomercato report Sassuolo want to open contract negotiations with Berardi amid reports Inter are planning yet another move for the winger. Il Corriere Dello Sport (h/t Calciomercato) reported similar news earlier this week, noting Spurs and Juventus remain interested in the rising star.
Tottenham were linked with the youngster throughout the summer, but a move always seemed tricky. Sassuolo have done a masterful job keeping hold of their star players, and given the previous co-ownership deal the club had with Juventus, the Bianconeri remain the clear favourites to land Berardi.

Per Calciomercato, it's no big secret the 22-year-old is a lifelong Inter fan, but he turned down a move to the Italian fashion capital during the summer. Juventus may have had something to do with the deal falling through, but Inter have resumed their talks with his entourage, per the report.
Berardi is widely regarded as one of the top young forwards in Europe and is already scoring goals in Serie A at an absurd rate. He played a key role in Sassuolo's shock emergence, leading the Neroverdi to a spot in the UEFA Europa League.
Here's a look at some of his highlights:
After a bright start to the season, Berardi suffered an injury that has kept him sidelined for months. His absence may result in a drop of value, opening the door for a transfer move.
A January deal seems extremely unlikely, however, and if Berardi does move next summer, he's expected to stay in Italy.
