NFL Playoff Picture 2016: Week 10 Standings, Super Bowl Odds and Wild-Card Hunt

Steve SilvermanNov 7, 2016

The NFL playoffs are still about two months away, but it's not too early to think about playoff positioning.

While nothing has been decided, the Dallas Cowboys and New England Patriots appear to be in excellent shape, as both teams have just one loss heading into Week 10 of the 2016 season.

The Patriots and Cowboys lead the AFC East and NFC East, respectively, by multiple games. Buffalo head coach Rex Ryan has basically conceded (h/t Boston Globe) the division to the Patriots, as his Bills and the Miami Dolphins are both three games behind.

Here's a look at the current NFL playoff standings.

The Cowboys have a two-game lead over the New York Giants. Giants coach Ben McAdoo led his team to a win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 9, and unlike Ryan, he made no concessions after the game.

While the Pats and Cowboys are elite division leaders, the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers are anything but in the AFC North. Both teams are 4-4 following the Ravens victory over the Steelers in Week 9, and both teams are a half game ahead of the Cincinnati Bengals. The Ravens have the lead in the division because of their head-to-head win over the Steelers.

The AFC West appears to be the strongest division in the league from top to bottom. The Oakland Raiders confirmed their improvement in Week 9 with a solid home victory over the defending Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos, and that allowed them to move into first place in the division with a 7-2 record.

The Kansas City Chiefs, who have won four games in a row and defeated the Raiders earlier in the season, are 6-2, while the Broncos are now in third at 6-3.

If the season ended today, the Chiefs and Broncos would be the wild-card teams in the AFC. The Dolphins, Steelers and Bills are the closest pursuers to the Broncos in the No. 2 wild-card spot.

In the NFC, the Cowboys are joined by the Minnesota Vikings, Atlanta Falcons and the Seattle Seahawks as division leaders.

The Vikings appear to be in a tenuous position after losing three games in a row, while the Falcons have rebounded from a two-game losing streak with a two-game winning streak. The Seahawks can extend their NFC West lead to two full games over the Arizona Cardinals with a win over the Bills at home Monday night.

The Giants are 5-3, while the Washington Redskins are 4-3-1, and they would be the two NFC wild-card teams if the season ended today.

The Detroit Lions are a half game behind the Redskins, while the New Orleans Saints, Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles are right on the Lions' heels.

Super Bowl Odds

The Patriots are clear favorites to win it all at this point in the season.

They are plus-200 to win the Super Bowl, according to Odds Shark. (A $100 bet on the Patriots to win the Super Bowl would return the bettor a profit of $200.)

The Seahawks and Cowboys are the second choices to win the championship, and both are plus-1,000. That's a significant difference between the favorite and the next two choices.

The Packers follow at plus-1,200, while the Vikings, Steelers, Broncos and Chiefs are all plus-1,400.

Here's a look at the remainder of Odds Sharks rankings for the rest of the field. The Cleveland Browns (0-9) and San Francisco 49ers (1-7) are not included on the list.
