Tommy Armstrong Injury: Updates on Nebraska QB's Status and Return

Nebraska Cornhuskers quarterback Tommy Armstrong awkwardly fell out of bounds during Saturday night's game against Ohio State and was momentarily motionless on the field, per Yahoo Sports' Dr. Saturday

According to Ralph D. Russo of the Associated Press, Armstrong's head "slammed" on to the turf.

Latest on Armstrong's Status

After Armstrong was attended to, Ari Wasserman of Cleveland.com reported that the quarterback gave a thumbs-up to the fans while being carted off the field.

Jake Russell of the Washington Post caught the moment Armstrong gave everyone the thumbs-up:

Sean Callahan of Rivals.com reported that Armstrong was talking and that all procedures were "just precautionary."

Armstrong would later return to the stadium, per Jim Weber of Lost Lettermen:

The play happened during the second quarter of Saturday night's game with Nebraska trailing Ohio State 24-3. 

Running toward the left sideline, Armstrong was tackled near the hip by Malik Hooker and sent airborne, almost sideways, before his head hit the turf. 

The senior had passed for 1,838 yards this season while adding another 438 yards on the ground with 18 total touchdowns. 

Ryker Fyfe replaced Armstrong at quarterback, and he will likely be the starter for as long as Nebraska's leading man is sidelined.
