Tretter's Injury Delivered Blow to O-Line Depth
The center is in his third season in the NFL and is coming off a sophomore campaign in which he played in all 16 games, starting three of them.
With Tretter out, Corey Linsley stepped into the starting role at the center position. Linsley started all 16 games in 2014 and 13 last season before losing his job to Tretter.
McCarthy spoke with Mike Spofford of the team's official website in early November about Linsley's return from the physically unable to perform list.
"We've been doing work with [Linsley] all along, and it starts in the strength and conditioning aspect of it," McCarthy said. "He's a pro in his approach. His conditioning is at a very high level right now, but there's nothing like football shape, and we understand that."
