Pacquiao vs. Vargas Purse: Known Prize-Money Payout Distribution
For at least one more night, Manny Pacquiao is on top of the boxing world after he defeated Jessie Vargas by unanimous decision for the WBO welterweight title on Saturday night from Las Vegas.
While it won't be known how much Pacquiao earned until the pay-per-view ratings and fight proceeds come in, Vargas earned $2.8 million in the loss, according to Ryan Songalia of Rappler.com.
This win improved Pacquiao's record to 59-6-2 in a career that has spanned all the way back to 1995.

When Pacquiao first began fighting, Vargas was just six years old. The 27-year-old now falls to 27-2 with this being his second loss in his last three bouts. His first came in June 2015 against Timothy Bradley Jr. by unanimous decision.
But Pacquiao's solid performance on Saturday night could have been driven by a future fight, as Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach told Keith Idec of BoxingScene.com on Nov. 1:
"He's been showing me a lot of the old Manny Pacquiao. And he looked a lot better in his last fight [against Timothy Bradley on Apr. 9] than he has in a while. I can see him knocking Vargas out. He's a young kid, he's not a big puncher and I think Manny can walk right through him. If he wants a rematch with [Floyd] Mayweather, he's going to have to fight like that.
"
While Pacquiao knock Vargas out, he did dominate for most of the night by using his speed and agility to perfection. While Vargas tried to land heavy blows, Pacquiao's quick jabs did plenty of damage as he emerged victorious by a judges' score of 114-113, 118-109, 118-109.
Even Floyd Mayweather seemed impressed, via Lance Pugmire of the Los Angeles Times:
Mayweather was believed to have stepped away from a 49-0-0 boxing career after his Sept. 12, 2015 victory over Andre Berto. However, there has been talk of a potential return to the ring, whether it be with UFC star Conor McGregor or Pacquiao.
With his performance on Saturday night, there is a possibility that Pacquiao coaxed Mayweather a little closer toward stepping out of retirement.
