Long Once Again Derailed By Injury in 2016
The 20th overall pick of the 2013 draft, Long had missed just one game over his first three NFL seasons. But 2016 has already seen him miss time after suffering an arm injury in Week 7 against the Green Bay Packers.
It's an inopportune time for Long to be experiencing these issues, as the Bears recently picked up his option for the 2017 season back in April. With free agency looming, a sudden inability to stay healthy could work against him when it comes time to negotiate a new contract.
Despite his missed time, though, Long has still succeeded in his return to the right guard position. After spending the first two years of his career at right guard, Long was slotted at right tackle last season before the team signed Bobby Massie prior to the 2016 season.
