Kyrie Irving Plans on Giving Championship Ring to His Dad
When the Cleveland Cavaliers open the 2016-17 NBA season on Tuesday night, Kyrie Irving will receive his first championship ring.
The point guard certainly earned it, averaging 27.1 points per game during the NBA Finals and nailing the game-winning three-pointer in Game 7. Yet he doesn't plan on keeping the relic for long.
On Saturday, he told reporters he will give the championship ring to his father.

"I give my dad almost everything," Irving said, per the team's Twitter account. "So, every accomplishment, every MVP award, every trophy that I've had since I was probably about 13 or 12, I've given to my dad."
Drederick Irving must have a full trophy case, which includes the 2013-14 All-Star Game MVP.
"After I won MVP, the handing of the trophy to my dad was the most special thing," Kyrie said in a Father's Day tribute on NBA.com.
Just as exceptional parents are honored with Mother or Father of the Year crowns, the Cavaliers star stands out as a top Son of the Year candidate.
