Manchester City Transfer News: Moise Kean Scouted at Juventus, Latest Rumours

Matt JonesSep 30, 2016

Manchester City are reportedly scouting Juventus youngster Moise Kean, with his future with the Italian champions said to be uncertain.

According to Fabrizio Romano of Calciomercato.com (via Edo Dalmonte), the Premier League side have been tracking the performances of the 16-year-old, with representatives paying close attention to his efforts in the UEFA Europa Youth League in midweek. Kean featured for Juve against Dinamo Zagreb.

“City could make the most of Kean’s current contract negotiations with Juventus, who have yet to define his future,” the report continued. “His family wants him to sign, and agent Mino Raiola wants a deal that is appropriate for a player of his talent, and a strategy to develop him, which includes sending him on loan to a top division club.”

Despite their intent to keep him, the Bianconeri do not want to indulge the youngster with a massive salary, regardless of the talent he possesses, according to Romano

Although Kean is still in the nascent stages of his career, it’s no surprise there is plenty of hype surrounding him. Here’s what he is capable of:

“Taking up either the central role in attack or starting on the left flank, Kean boasts a stunning blend of pace and power while also being far more physical than those around him,” said Bleacher Report’s Adam Digby of the youngster earlier this year.

City seem to be in the business of building for a bright future at the Etihad Stadium. This summer, Leroy Sane and John Stones made the move to Manchester, while Brazilian tyro Gabriel Jesus will also join up with the squad in January.

Given Juve don’t have the greatest record when it comes to youth development, perhaps Kean will be tempted to try his hand with a club making a tangible investment in some extremely bright prospects.

Gabriel Jesus Criticised

Since agreeing his transfer to Manchester City, Gabriel Jesus has let his standards drop, according to Brazilian football journalist Roberto Avallone.

“[Jesus], who was a eight-and-a-half rating before being sold, for coincidence now is a six-and-a-half, seven player,” Avallone said of the player’s performances, per SporTV, via Torcedores (h/t Lucas Sposito of Sport Witness). “He won a penalty, but isn’t that dangerous player anymore, who goes here and there. Now he simply plays.”

Although he shone for Brazil at the Olympics this summer, helping the nation to a gold medal in Rio de Janeiro, Jesus has suffered a dip in form with his club Palmeiras. Per Sposito, since signing for City in a €32 million (£27.5 million) deal, the teenager has only netted once in six matches.

Despite this apparent lull, so many tied to City are excited about what Jesus will bring to the club. Here’s a glimpse of what he can add:

While there have been some harsh words said about the teenager it’s worth remembering that he remains the joint top-scorer in the Brazilian league alongside Robinho with 11 goals. Given the amount of football he’s played lately for both club and country, a loss of sharpness is understandable, too.

It’s something that should be expected when he finally joins up with City as well. Jesus will have to adapt to a different culture, a new way of playing and the accompanying pressures of becoming a £27.5 million player.

Although he’s shown plenty of maturity and plenty of talent so far in his career, a patient approach is needed with the 19-year-old if he’s to blossom.
