
Jose Mourinho 'Furious' at Manchester United Staff over Paul Pogba, Zorya Plan
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho publicly criticised his coaching staff after they appeared to give Paul Pogba the wrong instructions for the Red Devils' UEFA Europa League clash with Zorya Luhansk at Old Trafford on Thursday.
Per the Sun's Martin Blackburn, the Portuguese aimed a "furious rant" at analyst Giovanni Cerra on the United bench just before kick-off and had strong words with assistant Rui Faria.
As could be seen via the BT Sport broadcast, Pogba looked slightly confused on the touchline as he consulted a notepad with Mourinho and Faria, and the United boss then marched to the bench to rant at Cerra, who is in charge of producing visual reports and infographics.

He explained after the match, which ended in a tight 1-0 victory for United over the Ukrainian minnows, that Zorya had changed their team before kick-off, which required new instructions be issued to Pogba, per MailOnline's Kieran Gill: "It was set pieces, organisation, they changed their team before the game. Paul was a bit confused with the changes, and obviously I want my assistants to take care of all the details."
The French midfielder was part of a strong starting XI that Mourinho fielded as United attempted to claim their first Europa League win of 2016-17—Eric Bailly, Chris Smalling, Juan Mata and Zlatan Ibrahimovic all started.
It was far from the routine victory many expected, though, as United had to wait until the 69th minute for Ibrahimovic to make the breakthrough, per BT Sport Football:
But after losing away at Feyenoord in their opening Group A game it was vital that United got their European campaign up and running.
Mourinho hailed Zorya's defensive organisation after the victory and insisted United played well to earn the win, per the club's Twitter feed:
With Feyenoord losing 1-0 to Fenerbahce on Thursday, United are now just one point back from the Turkish group leaders, whom they face in their next Europa League match on Oct. 20.
Next up for Mourinho's men in the Premier League is a clash with Stoke City at Old Trafford on Sunday.
