Give It a "Hell Yeah!" For WWE Hell In a Cell
I wasn’t too excited for this one, to tell you quite frankly since I had a feeling it wasn’t going to go the way I want it to. But I’m glad about what happened. I’m not just talking about the results. I’m talking about the whole thing. It proved to be quite exciting.
So let’s start.
The first match was the World Heavyweight Championship Hell in a Cell Match.

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
I was surprised that they started the show with this. I guess they didn’t want to put the Hell in a Cell matches one after the other.
Undertaker started out early on the attack, using the cage to his advantage. At one point he slammed Punk’s head on a support beam, it looked hard enough to hurt so it must’ve. Then Punk got under the ring and out the other side only to kick the steel steps on Taker’s knees. Then they took the fight back to the ring.
Punk then gets a chair which later was used against him, when Taker kicks it in his face when he came forward to hit him with it. One Chokeslam and Tombstone Piledriver later, and we got a new champ.
It was a good match to start the show, got the audience excited. Punk hanged with Taker good in my opinion. I don’t suppose they’re going to stop fighting for the belt now since no one could step up for contendership among the superstars on SD yet. Batista’s kind of busy with Rey as of now, and he is maybe the most probable choice (for them) to go for the championship. Or maybe Kane can go for another title before he retires perhaps. But I think they’ll stay with Punk for now.
The next match was for the Intercontinental Championship.
Morrison entered the ring first, followed by Ziggler. Todd and JR talked a bit about his outfit while the two superstars circled each other on the ring. They finally locked up and immediately went to the mat. Then finally JoMo gets some ‘leg’ movement with a drop kick and a leg drop. But Ziggler wants to keep it to the mat so he brings him down again and kept him there via head lock.
I think Ziggler said something like “All day long” while he had John on the head lock, so I guess he means they can stay like that all day long. John got out and flew around a little bit with crossbody and dropkick until he tried the starship pain which didn’t connect.
Ziggler showed a new moves in his arsenal like the fireman takedown which he did twice. He was impressive throughout the match. Morrison was too but he didn’t do anything we haven’t seen him do before.
Anyway, Morrison retained. I think they’re going to continue with their rivalry at least for the next PPV Bragging Rights. Maybe Ziggler can get the belt then. But after that, if it happens, I think they should end their feud already. It gets stale very fast for me.
Next up was for the Diva’s Championship.
Well, I kind of had expectations for this match since I read about Shane’s article on Alicia Fox. Unfortunately, it didn’t go up to my expectation. It wasn’t good. It was the same old shit we see on TV weekly with the women’s matches.
I was expecting Mickie to win, but seriously, I at least wanted to see more offense on Alicia’s part. That bridge was actually good, but that was it. Mickie DDT’s her and I think she fell kind of awkwardly. The way her body flipped over was, well, disturbing. Or maybe she just has a really long and flexible body so it looked like that. Anyway nothing really worked for her. It was basically lopsided in Mickie’s favor.
After that match was The Unified Tag Team Championship Match.
Show and Jericho came first, then Batista. He didn’t do the machine gun and grenade throw motion on his entrance, instead he pointed to the ramp for Mysterio’s arrival.
They start with Chris and Rey. Rey takes to the air early, propping Jericho for a 619 but Jericho got out of the way so he changed his mind mid-air but still connects. Then Show got tagged and Rey had the chance to tag Batista in, but he didn’t. So the champs worked on Rey, tagging in and out until Rey finally tags Batista and he dominated for a bit.
Then everyone got involved and it ended with a failed 619 on Show, who hits Rey with a KO punch and covered him for a three count.
Y2J and Show retained as they should. I think Batista and Rey will still try to get the titles, along with MVP and Mark Henry until Bragging Rights, in a triple threat match. Maybe they’ll get the belts then.
Now, on to the second main event the WWE Championship Hell in a Cell Match.
Randy Orton comes out first to a mixed reaction from the crowd. He doesn’t look too confident walking to the cell, so I was kind of worried. Once he got in he psyches himself up, gritting his teeth and all that stuff he does.
Then Cena’s music hit and we hear a loud “Cena sucks!” chant before he even come out. He sprints and stops just outside the cell and hands the belt to the ref. There was a “Orton is God” sign that I saw at ringside. Cena then walks around for a minute, gave his shirt and cap away then gets inside finally.
It started out fairly even. Then Randy gets out of the ring and shakes the door loose. I didn’t get that. Was he trying to get out when he knows it’s locked? Whoever wrote that in is some kind of stupid. Anyway, Cena tries the Attitude Adjustment (from hereon will be referred to as AA) which didn’t connect as Orton reverses and we hear RKO chants.
Orton gets on the offensive and used the cage to his advantage, as he should since he was the one who has the experience. He slammed and grated Cena on the mesh, and used the cell for some leverage as he stomped on him. Then he whipped Cena the mesh and on to the steel steps and then stomped on him several times. He takes the top half of the steps and threw it on to the ring. Failed on first try, as it bounced back to him when it hit the rope. Orton gave the crowd an “arm sign” meaning something I should not write here. He tried to do the elevated DDT on Cena to the top half of the steel steps in the ring but Cena countered and threw him out of the ring.
Cena took the steps and threw it out to Randy, but he ducked, luckily. Randy gets back to the ring and put Cena on an inverted back breaker, covered, and got two. Cena goes for the AA again, but Randy was holding on to the top rope. He goes for the elevated DDT and connects but only for two counts.
Randy drops to the mat, poised for the RKO which didn’t connect as Cena put him to another AA and covered him, but he kicked out. Jerry and Cole blabbed about how amazing that was that Orton kicked out of the AA, probably because Randy has been falling to it for the past weeks.
Cena puts Randy on the top turnbuckle for another AA, Randy reversed that and put Cena on his shoulders and dropped him backwards head first. I wasn’t expecting that at all, I’ve never seen him lift anyone up over his shoulders especially someone as heavy as Cena, so I was amazed.
Anyway, Randy tried to put Cena on a superplex but he countered. Cena goes for a legdrop but Randy got out of the way. Randy gets a chair and slams its edge on Cena’s neck and abdomen, then sets it up under Cena’s head before attempting a knee drop which didn’t connect as Cena moved out of the way. He hits his knee to the chair in the process.
Cena sees the opportunity, attacked the knee and put Randy in the STF. Randy pulls himself over to the rope but Cena doesn’t have to release him as per rules. He pulled himself to the edge of the ring, and uses the bottom rope to separate himself from Cena. Randy gets up limping, pushes Cena towards the Chioda, knocking the ref out of the ring. Cena lets go, but pulls Randy back to the center and put him back in the STF. Randy taps but the ref isn’t around.
Cena goes to get the ref back in, but he was struck by an RKO out of nowhere. Randy covers him, ref saw that and he got a two count. Randy looks like he’s struggling with the voices in his head, and he acts that out so perfectly if I may say so. He takes Cena to the ropes and traps his arms between them, as he puts Cena in a chinlock while he stands behind him outside at the ring apron, until he passed out.
He releases Cena from the chinlock, gets back inside the ring, looking like he’s still struggling with the monsters in his head. Ref released Cena from the ropes and he struggled to get back up. Randy’s expression changes were so obvious that you know what he’s going to do next. He goes for the punt, connects, covers and got the pin!
Randy Orton is WWE Champion again!
I didn’t think it was going to happen honestly, I even predicted against it happening in that prediction league Hayley’s doing. But I am so glad I am wrong.
Now, where does this go from here? Cena hopefully will not contend anymore, but that’s probably wishful thinking from my part. I’m actually amazed that Cena was still conscious after getting punt. Usually Randy’s victims are taken out on a stretcher. Oh, well, he is superman after all I guess. (I wish you can see me roll my eyes as I typed that.) Also, you know, if they ever had a plan to turn Cena heel, I think now is the best time. He must be frustrated to have lost his match.
As for Randy, I think its time for him to face new opponents, and make him not look like a coward this time. I mean they don’t have to make him run from any one else other than Cena, Triple H, and Batista do they?
Moving on. Next match was R-Truth vs. Drew McIntyre.
Seriously, they shouldn’t have placed this match after the WWE Championship, because after that match, this one seemed dull. Not to mention that it was short too, so I didn’t really get to see much of it as I took a bathroom break.
Anyway, Drew McIntyre won. Looks like Vinnie’s big on him, putting him on a PPV when he hasn’t even had a match on SD yet. Well, I think he’s pretty good too.
I just have to talk about the backstage segment with Randy Orton and the Legacy for a minute. I thought it was a good segment. Randy showed his “wisdom”, being the leader and all. Of course there are protests from Cody and Ted, probably to build up tension within the group. At one point he told them that if he were them, he’d listen to him. For which Ted countered saying if he were Randy he won’t underestimate them. At that time, I got the feeling Legacy was going to lose.
Well, Randy was right. Legacy lost, so if anything they should have more respect for Randy because he did give them advice.
Next match was a Triple Threat Match for the United States Championship.
Well, it wasn’t as exciting as I thought it would be but it was pretty good. Or maybe it’s just like what I said, that anything that came after the WWE Match just seemed bland to me.
So anyway, as expected from the two heels, they worked together for a while against Kofi until Miz double crossed Swagger. It was fast paced and lots of action. At one point, Swagger put Miz up on his shoulder only to be hit with a crossbody from Kofi which brought them all down.
That kick to Swaggers jaw looked like it really hurt too, I’m amazed Jack could stand up and shake it off enough to do the gut wrench power bomb on Miz.
Anyway, Kofi retained. I didn’t think they’d keep the title on him up to now, but I guess they like him. They’ll probably still go with the trio to the next PPV, or maybe have Jack and Miz fight it out for contendership first.
And then we come to the last main event of the night. DX vs. Legacy.
DX come out first, but they haven’t yet got inside the cell when Legacy came and attacked them. The fight spilled all over the arena before the bell had even sounded. The plan was to divide and conquer, and the boys chose Shawn as primary target. Cody took the chain to Shawn and left him to help Ted with Triple H. They hit him with a double DDT, and then a Cross Rhodes which knocked him out.
They went back to Shawn and slammed the door on his leg a couple of times before they took him inside the cell and the match started officially then. They locked themselves up in the cell with Shawn, and slowly, deliberately brutalized him. That’s one part I didn’t get. Why did they sound the bell when Trips wasn’t inside? Anyway, he was still out cold.
At that point it looked as though there was no way Legacy was going to lose, unless some miracle happens. Triple H finally stirs and goes to the cell only to find out he can’t get in. He tried to pry it open with a chair, to no effect and got taunted by the boys to no end until he decided to leave.
The boys continued to brutalize Shawn. Shawn kept fighting but it was not enough. Ted drop kicks Shawn with a chair held in front of his face by Cody. And they do the DX arm sign to taunt him some more. And then finally a miracle arrived in the form of a bolt cutter in the hands of a King.
Triple H hits Ted with the chain wrapped around his fist while Shawn held him up, then pedigreed him. They take Ted out of the cell and locked themselves in with Cody. Shawn goes up the top turnbuckle as Triple H held Cody down to the floor, and he jumps for an elbow drop.
Triple H brings in the sledgehammer. And then one Sweet Chin Music and a Sledgehammer shot to the face at the same time later, Cody was out, covered, and pinned for a three count and DX wins.
Ted gets inside after the cell was opened, and attends to Cody. Well, they should’ve listened to Randy to not take the match easy. Anyway, to end it Shawn hit the SCM on Ted too. I thought he was going to do it to Triple H too because he left him earlier, but he didn’t. So I guess DX is still together.
I don’t know what’s up next for Legacy though. They said this match was going to end everything with DX vs Legacy, so I got no idea where Ted and Cody’s gonna go next.
Anyway, to close this article, I think the PPV was all in all a success. And although, a couple of matches looked weak, I still say let’s give it a “Hell Yeah!”
