Arsenal Transfer News: Ivan Gazidis Analyses Summer, Latest Bruma Rumours
Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis has told supporters the club were very satisfied with their work during the summer transfer window, while the Gunners are reportedly scouting Galatasaray winger Bruma ahead of a potential move.
As reported by Joe Short of the Daily Express, the Gunners had a rocky summer that started with the signings of Granit Xhaka and Rob Holding and ended with the additions of Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez.

In between, there were a lot of frustrations, with the club failing to land a star forward amid links to Jamie Vardy of Leicester City and Lyon's Alexandre Lacazette. The Gunners only signed four first-team players, but Gazidis told fans at the Supporters' Forum (h/t Short) the club got the players they wanted:
"After all the summer activity he felt we had done well, signing Granit Xhaka and Rob Holding early on, signing our first choice centre back target Shkodran Mustafi and also adding Lucas Perez. The latter had been on our radar for some time and we are pleased to have made a strong addition. He also pointed to the signings of Kelechi Nwakali and Takuma Asano as good acquisitions for the future.
"
The Perez signing had some fans frowning initially, as the Spaniard was relatively unknown outside of followers of La Liga. He's always had tremendous potential and did very well for Deportivo La Coruna last season, and his early showings in an Arsenal uniform have been promising.
Here's a look at some of his highlights from last season:
The most anticipated signings were undoubtedly those of Xhaka and Mustafi. The former joined the club early in the summer window after an impressive spell with Borussia Monchengladbach and was expected to plug a major hole in midfield from Day 1.
So far, that hasn't happened, as the 23-year-old has spent a surprising amount of time on the bench to start the season. He has played quite well when given the chance, including goals against Hull City and Nottingham Forest, and he's expected to take on a bigger role in the coming weeks.
While the Switzerland international is mainly known as a distributor and defensive enforcer, he seems to have added a new element to his game in north London, per Bleacher Report UK:
World Cup winner Mustafi was excellent on his debut against Southampton and will likely partner Laurent Koscielny in the heart of defence in the Premier League and UEFA Champions League all season, providing both are healthy. The former Valencia star appears to have adapted to his new surroundings very quickly.
Even Holding has already flashed his talent after he was forced into the squad early in the season. The 21-year-old is one for the future, and judging from his early showings, the Gunners may have found a real bargain.

Elsewhere, A Bola (h/t the Daily Mirror's Aaron Flanagan) added Arsenal to the list of clubs reportedly interested in Bruma, who has also been watched by Chelsea, Tottenham, West Ham United and Manchester United.
The Portuguese winger is finally making good on the huge potential that made him such a wanted man when he first broke through with Sporting Lisbon back in 2013. A loan spell with Real Sociedad seems to have helped the 21-year-old tremendously, and he has started the 2016-17 campaign in excellent form for Galatasaray.
Here's a look at some of his pre-season highlights:
Bruma has always stood out for freakish athleticism and great dribbling skills, but he appears to have added a new level of efficiency to his game. He was held back by a lack of production and vision earlier in his career, but those issues seem to have disappeared. Instead, he's now playing a less selfish brand of football, to the joy of team-mates and coaches.
Per WhoScored.com, he still likes to dribble:
Talent has never been an issue for Bruma, and it's up to him to now prove his hot stretch isn't a fluke. Interested clubs will keep an eye on the winger but be patient, knowing full well he has struggled to consistently deliver in the past.
If he has put it all together and is finally becoming the player scouts always knew he could be, expect the bidding to be significant either in January or next summer.
