Head coach Jim McElwain told reporters that Del Rio prepared to play against LSU before the game was postponed and said that "we're excited" to have him back under center.
Del Rio's Injury Occurred on Questionable Hit
Through Week 3, Del Rio had completed 61.4 percent of his passes this season, his first at Florida after transferring from Oregon State, posting 762 yards with six touchdowns and two interceptions.
After losing the quarterback who helped Florida start the season with a 3-0 record, McElwain was visibly upset over the tackle that caused the injury.
According to Edgar Thompson of the Orlando Sentinel, McElwain went "nuts" on the officials, imploring that they penalize North Texas for the hit.
In fact, he had to be restrained by his players while team physicians were tending to Del Rio:

With Del Rio's departure, Florida turned to senior quarterback Austin Appleby, who has thrown for 470 yards, three touchdowns and one interception while going 1-1 in his two starts.
