Kelechi Iheanacho, Manchester City Agree on New Contract: Latest Details
Manchester City signed young starlet Kelechi Iheanacho to a new contract on Thursday, handing the emerging talent a two-year extension.
The new deal runs until the end of the 2020-21 season, ensuring the 19-year-old will spend the next few years continuing his development at the Etihad Stadium.
Per the club's official website, Iheanacho was more than happy to commit his immediate future to the Citizens:

"I can't express how I'm feeling! I'm very happy to sign my new deal for this club, I'm excited.
I just need to keep working hard and express my feelings on the pitch, and work really well and do great things for the team. I'm happy and I appreciate everything the club has done for me so far at this point so I really need to help and work for them as well.

Iheanacho has long been regarded as one of the top talents in City's academy and made a big impact for the senior team last season, scoring the winner in his second match against Crystal Palace. He also scored the opener in the 1-1 draw at Swansea City in May to secure UEFA Champions League qualification.

His final tally of 14 goals across all competitions was the third-best mark of any City player, with only star striker Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne scoring more. Entering the 2016-17 campaign, Iheanacho is City's main back-up to the Argentina international.
The Nigerian's extension continues what has been a fine summer for City, who have made a handful of key signings with a focus on adding young talent. Scouted Football is impressed with the core that manager Pep Guardiola is building:
"Pep's City squad now comprises Sterling, Iheanacho, Roberts, Zinchenko, Moreno, Sané Gabi Jesus and John Stones. Makings of a dynasty there.

Iheanacho has the look of a future star, but Guardiola will expect him to make an impact in the coming season as well. As noted by Transfermarkt.co.uk, Aguero has a lengthy injury history, and he hasn't gone through a full season without suffering at least one major issue in years.
When the Argentinian inevitably breaks down, it will be up to Iheanacho to lead City's attack in their quest for Premier League and Champions League glory.
