Gase Comments on Foster's Recovery
Thursday, Oct. 13
Head coach Adam Gase said Foster "looks normal to [him]," per Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald.
Foster Has Experienced Injury Issues Throughout His Career
In 2010, Foster earned All-Pro honors after rushing for 1,616 yards and 16 touchdowns. Over the next five years, he missed 26 games. The 2015 season, in particular, represented a nadir for the running back.
Foster, then of the Houston Texans, tore his Achilles in Week 7 against the Dolphins and missed the rest of the season. A groin injury had also kept him out of the Texans' first three games.
Miami took a flier on Foster, signing him for one year and $1.5 million, which made sense because the team hadn't added a proven replacement for Lamar Miller. The deal also carried some risk given the 30-year-old's durability issues in recent years.
Quarterback Ryan Tannehill is the primary engine of the Dolphins offense, and much of Miami's playoff hopes rest on his right arm. In order for Tannehill to be successful, though, the team needs to offer some kind of consistent threat on the ground, which Foster can provide.
