Arsenal Transfer News: Riyad Mahrez Not Wanted by Gunners Amid Everton Rumours
Arsenal reportedly have "no plans" to move for Leicester City's Riyad Mahrez despite long-term speculation linking the Gunners with a £40 million deal for the attacker.
According to Greg Stobart of Squawka, Arsenal have not made contact with the Foxes to inquire about Mahrez, 25, and manager Arsene Wenger does not see signing a right-winger as a priority in the summer window.
Stobart added Arsenal are unlikely to move from their position on Mahrez but that Barcelona are continuing to monitor the Algeria international's situation, while Everton are also credited with interest.

Mahrez won the Professional Footballers' Association Player of the Year award for 2015-16 for his consistently brilliant performances for Leicester and his huge contribution to their shock Premier League title win.
Per WhoScored.com, he netted 17 goals—more than any Arsenal player managed—and provided 11 assists in the league last term.
He would be a huge asset at Arsenal, but they already have a number of options on the right flank—including Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott—not least the oft-overlooked Joel Campbell, someone Bleacher Report's Sam Tighe recently discussed:
Arsenal finished second in the Premier League last term but failed to mount a genuine title challenge. That has been the case for the past few seasons.
Unlike many of their main rivals—including Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea—the Gunners have been relatively quiet in the summer transfer market thus far, signing midfielder Granit Xhaka, forward Takuma Asano and centre-back Rob Holding.
Mahrez looked set to be their marquee move of the summer, with WhoScored.com's Ben McAleer suggesting his arrival at the Emirates Stadium "would resolve something of a problem area for the north London giants."
However, it seems Arsenal will not be signing Mahrez. Football journalist Graham Ruthven believes that's a good move by the Gunners, feeling the Leicester man would add little to the squad:
Whether valid or not, it is true Arsenal potentially already have the personnel to solve their right-sided problems and should arguably spend their money to make improvements where they are most needed.
A new striker and added depth at centre-back would be welcome at Arsenal, and they should have money to spare, having reportedly decided not to splash out on Mahrez.
