Dean Ambrose vs. Dolph Ziggler Announced for WWE SummerSlam 2016 PPV
It'll be an all-Ohio battle for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam after Dolph Ziggler earned a shot against Dean Ambrose.
Ziggler won a Six-Pack Challenge on Tuesday night on SmackDown Live to become the No. 1 contender. WWE shared a replay of his celebration following the win:

The match included John Cena, AJ Styles, Apollo Crews, Bray Wyatt and Baron Corbin. For many fans, Ziggler was likely the biggest underdog among the six stars. FloSports' Jeremy Botter was pleasantly surprised by the result:
WWE seemingly abandoned its plans to build Ziggler as a top star when he had his concussion issues back in 2013. His Money in the Bank cash-in on Alberto Del Rio during Raw after WrestleMania 29 looked to be a star-making moment:
Instead, health issues brought his world heavyweight championship reign to an abrupt end, and Ziggler has failed to build any sustained momentum since.
Especially of late, Ziggler has mostly trodden water in WWE. His rivalry with Rusev was a complete disaster and didn't make anybody involved look good. More recently, he feuded with Corbin, which started out strong but fizzled the longer it went on.
This isn't the first time WWE has seemingly decided on a whim to make Ziggler a main event player again. He was the hero in Team Cena's win over Team Authority at Survivor Series 2014, which temporarily resulted in The Authority losing its power.
Shortly thereafter, though, Ziggler fell back into the midcard.
It'll be interesting to see how SummerSlam unfolds. Since Raw and SmackDown Live are now separate entities, WWE can push more stars into the main event.
In the past, it'd have been easy to dismiss the chance that Ziggler's win on Tuesday signified any sort of major change in his career. Following the brand extension, the company may be on the verge of turning him into a marquee player again.
