Manchester United Transfer News: Latest on Paul Pogba and Blaise Matuidi Rumours
A scheduled medical for Paul Pogba in Miami has been "scrapped" by the player's agent, Mino Raiola, as the deal between Manchester United and Juventus for the France prodigy continues to crawl to fruition.
Spanish outlet AS (h/t Rhys Turrell of the Daily Star) reported United States-based doctor Italo Linfa—who was was due to oversee the medical—has been informed by Raiola to "not to bother jetting back from a holiday to do it," as the Red Devils and the Old Lady continue negotiations.

The Daily Star's Jack Wilson reported Pogba has agreed to terms on a huge wage deal to return to Old Trafford after leaving United in 2012 to move to Turin. The overall fee has become a stumbling point in the move to capture the midfielder, and Pogba is on extended leave until August 6, leaving his agent to control all matters regarding the switch.
Pogba returns to Europe only one day before United face Leicester City in the Community Shield at Wembley, forcing the ongoing saga to potentially continue into the start of the campaign, per Wilson.
Raiola and the player recently appeared relaxed as they both took time out in Miami, with beIN Sports correspondent Tancredi Palmeri suggesting the duo have destiny firmly in their hands:
Juve director general Giuseppe Marotta also confirmed the deal is yet to progress, describing the transfer as "at a standstill" to reporters outside the headquarters of the Italian Professional Football League, as quoted by Augustin Martin of AS.
If the deal for Pogba fails to complete, Jose Mourinho could turn his attentions to Pogba's France team-mate Blaise Matuidi.
French newspaper L'Equipe (h/t Rob Pollard of the Manchester Evening News) reported Matuidi is free to leave Paris-Saint Germain, triggering interest from United, Chelsea and Juve. The energetic midfielder would be available at a fraction of Pogba's price at £30 million.

New PSG boss Unai Emery admitted the midfielder could leave the French capital, per L'Equipe:
"He is a very good player,” Emery said. "We have a lot of left-footed defensive midfielders. If he has the opportunity to leave and if he thinks there are too many midfielders here… But I do not want him to go."
The 29-year-old featured 31 times for PSG in Ligue 1 last term, scoring four goals and assisting on six occasions, according to WhoScored.com.
Football writer Tom McDermott believes Matuidi would be an economical addition to the United fold if Pogba's transfer collapses:
"Matuidi and Matic for nowhere near the Pogba price would do for me. Legs and physical presence Or, chuck 50/60m at Kroos.
— Tom McDermott (@footballmcd) July 26, 2016"
Here is the player in action for PSG:
Matuidi fits the type of profile Mourinho currently needs as he revamps the stock at the Theatre of Dreams, but at 29, he does not represent long-term value to United.
Pogba would sell more shirts than his countryman and offers the Red Devils incredible commercial opportunities, as well as infinitely strengthening the starting XI under the self-proclaimed Special One.
Many fans will see it as Pogba or bust at this stage of the transfer window, as United attempt a rebuild that will land them the Premier League trophy once again.
Matuidi would represent a good option if the Pogba deal completely evaporates, but his non-arrival would inconveniently send Mourinho back to the drawing board at an ill-fated moment, as United hope to conclude their business early.
The Pogba debacle is beginning to drag, and Mourinho will soon have to decide whether to turn his attentions elsewhere.
