Tyler Ulis' Photo with Drake Among Kentucky's 14 NCAA Violations in 2015-16
The University of Kentucky has announced its various athletic programs were in violation of 14 secondary NCAA rules over the last academic year.
Per Kyle Tucker of SEC Country, included in the 2015-16 list is a Level III violation for preferential treatment when Kentucky point guard Tyler Ulis attended an after-party for a Drake concert after "a member of the famous rapper’s management team recognized the player and invited him back to say hello."
Tucker noted that Drake did not have contact with Ulis before his concert, nor did he give him free tickets to the party later in the evening.
Kentucky discovered the violation after seeing this photo on Ulis' Instagram:
That was the only violation involving the basketball program. The Wildcats football program had the most violations of any athletic program with four. All 14 infractions were Level III violations, which don't require suspension.
Per Aaron Torres of Fox Sports, these minor violations get reported by every school in the country every year, but Kentucky's is getting more attention because the others "don't all involve Drake."
Drake has been a vocal supporter of Kentucky basketball, famously taking part in warm-ups before the Wildcats' 2014 Midnight Madness scrimmage and completely missing the rim on a three-point attempt. The 29-year-old rapper received a cease-and-desist letter from the school last year after taking pictures with potential recruits at Big Blue Madness.
