Carolina Panthers Owner Jerry Richardson Gets Wild Statue for 80th Birthday
Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson has been with the team since its inception in 1993.
To commemorate Richardson's commitment to the team—and his 80th birthday—the Panthers unveiled a rather bold statue titled "The Tribute" outside Bank of America Stadium.
The statue—designed by artist Todd Andrews—features Richardson flanked by two panthers. Andrews explained, per a statement from the team:

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
"Each panther represents more than one thing. One represents the offense, the other the defense. And because of what they are and who they're standing next to, they represent North Carolina and South Carolina. And then you take all three of them together, and I think of them as three panthers because Mr. Richardson is definitely a Panther.
"
Panthers partner Jerry Wordsworth added:
"We are honored to present this extraordinary work of art to Jerry on his 80th birthday. It will always represent a symbol of heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the Richardson family for everything they have done for us as partners, fans and the community.
"
"The Tribute" is sure to attract attention at Carolina home games this fall. It remains to be seen how small children will react to the rather, uh, realistic panthers, though.
