WWE Draft 2016: Brock Lesnar and the Most Difficult Stars to Slot in Brand Split
The upcoming WWE brand extension is going to change the entire company moving forward, and it all starts with Tuesday's draft.
The entire roster is going to be split in half, so management has to make sure each show has enough talent to survive on its own.
We have heard a lot about the possibility of tag teams being split up, a second world title being added and how the tag and women's divisions will work moving forward.
It doesn't matter where most Superstars end up, but there are a number of wrestlers whose statuses will create issues during the draft.
This slideshow will look at some of the most difficult picks. This isn't a ranked list, so disregard what order the Superstars appear in.
Ryback
1 of 7Ryback hasn't been seen on WWE television since his contract dispute with management led to him being sent home, but he is technically still part of the roster.
Since the roster is too big for everyone to have their own special draft announcements, WWE will likely announce groups of Superstars for each show all at once, so he could be lumped in with a bunch of other people.
However, there is a good chance he will be released at some point if neither side can agree on terms, so he may end up being ignored completely.
Roman Reigns
2 of 7Roman Reigns' current suspension puts WWE in a weird position regarding his status for Tuesday's draft episode of SmackDown.
WWE doesn't want to look like it is just going to brush his wellness policy violation under the rug, but if he wants to be perceived as a top star, he still needs to be drafted in a prime spot.
Not being able to appear on the actual show will also pose an issue, so he may end up being someone who is only mentioned in passing by the announcers as having been picked by one of the brands.
The Rock
3 of 7Is The Rock still part of WWE's roster? He technically worked a match against Erick Rowan at WrestleMania 32, but it was more of an excuse to see him Rock Bottom someone than anything else.
If he ever plans on returning for another bout, he could reasonably be drafted by one of the commissioners. Plus, it would be a great surprise for the fans if he showed up for the first live SmackDown to take part in the draft.
After all, the show is named after a word he popularized in the '90s. The only problem is that, once he's drafted, we have no idea how long it will be before he wrestles again.
We'll have to wait until Tuesday to see if his name is even brought up.
The Wyatt Family
4 of 7With four members of the stable, The Wyatt Family is in a tricky situation. WWE tried to break up the group once, and all failed on their own.
Keeping the group together is what's best for everyone, so they either have to be drafted as a single entity, or one of the commissioners has to draft each member individually.
With only two hours for SmackDown, WWE is going to have to find a way to make sure every talent is addressed without having enough time to show each person being picked.
To keep things simple, WWE should just have the group go to Raw or SmackDown together instead of trying to split it up again.
Dean Ambrose
5 of 7As the current WWE champion, Dean Ambrose is one of the most important draft picks. Even if management introduces a second world title, the WWE champion will always be viewed as the top dog.
Of course, this all depends on how his next two title defenses turn out. He is set to defend the belt against Seth Rollins on Raw, and both men will be in a Triple Threat match with Reigns at Battleground.
There's still a chance WWE has Ambrose float between brands and continue using only one championship, so his draft status may be irrelevant until he loses the belt.
Either way, it will be interesting to see how he is handled on Tuesday during the premiere of SmackDown Live.
The Undertaker
6 of 7Jerry Lawler has talked on commentary about how difficult it's going to be for Shane or Stephanie McMahon to justify drafting The Undertaker, and he's right.
With a guy who only wrestles once a year at WrestleMania, it doesn't matter which brand ends up getting him, but ignoring him isn't good, either.
One of the commissioners is going to have to use one of their picks to snatch up The Deadman, but without an actual appearance from Taker during the show, it will be meaningless until he decides to return for his next feud.
Brock Lesnar
7 of 7Brock Lesnar is the hardest person on the roster to draft for many reasons, but the biggest hurdle facing the commissioners is the news of his possible doping violation before his UFC 200 fight against Mark Hunt.
Until we know all the information, Lesnar is a liability. WWE may have to suspend him if the test comes back positive for a substance banned by its own wellness policy, and that could ruin plans for him to face Randy Orton at SummerSlam.
On top of that, Lesnar is only working a part-time schedule, so he isn't of much value to either brand unless he starts wrestling matches on Raw or SmackDown.
Once the initial hype from the draft goes away, it won't matter which brand has The Beast as part of its roster, but he will still be a top pick because of his star power.
