Analysis

The final taped SmackDown in WWE history (at least for now, anyway) featured a hellish main event involving four of the best wrestlers in the industry. The feuds between Ambrose and Rollins and Zayn and Owens have been among the most intense of the last three years. They are easily understandable stories that will make for some outstanding wrestling matches come Battleground.
The match was absolutely the right choice for this week's show, especially considering how vital the four men involved have been to the blue brand over the last two years.
According to the report, the Miz TV segment came across as more comedic than anything, which is unfortunate. Miz has been so good and worked so hard to regain credibility among the WWE Universe that to see him wasted in a comic feud, one in which he is likely to go over anyway, is disheartening.
The biggest revelation from a storyline standpoint is that Charlotte set Sasha Banks up with another match against Dana Brooke, promising a championship match if she won, only to yank it away from her anyway. It is classic heel work from a young performer who has been one of the MVPs of WWE in 2016.
More importantly, it continues the slow burn to an eventful Banks-Charlotte match at SummerSlam, which The Boss will hopefully win.
Overall, Thursday's broadcast is worth watching. The talent alone is spectacular, while the continued development of stories is a central theme. Check it out, and at the same time, wave goodbye to an era in which we all knew what would happen on Thursday nights but watched anyway.
